Is a Terrorgheist too much to bring against someone with just the boxed set?  [RSS] Share on facebook Share on Twitter Submit to Reddit

I'm maybe playing a game against a new AoS player this weekend, I am new myself and this will only be my 2nd game. My opponent has just the Stormcast starter contents from the AoS boxed set (not the Start Collecting, the big box), which I'm not sure of points but really at that level I'm not going to bother with points unless he insists. Looking at just counts, Stormcast starter seems to have 4 units (2x Judicators, 1x Retributors and 1x Prosecutors I think) plus two characters (Lord Relictor and Lord Celestant on Dracoth), so if I go with that as a base I could bring my entire army of two units of Crypt Ghouls, 1 unit of Crypt Horrors, 1 unit of Crypt Flayers, 1x Ghoul King on Terrorgheist and 1x Varghulf Courtier.

However, I'm not sure if my Ghoul King on Terrorgheist is going to overpower them; I do not know how Stormcasts play but they seem fairly tough so even though the Terrorgheist is scary, I think he could handle it? I seem to recall one of the Stormcast units get bonuses against monsters, but can't remember which one.

Would it be too much for a friendly game against a newbie, or would it be fine? We are both new so I want an enjoyable game, but I also really want to have it be visually appealing too.

I mean, every game I've played against Sigmarines has ended in a Retributor squad wiping my army, so I don't know how much you should worry.

Balanced Game: Noun. A game in which all options and choices are worth using.

Points wise your army is larger by about 200 pts but for a friendly game I think thats not going to be a problem. Flesh eater courts and stormcast are fairly strong armies in AoS so I think it would still be a good game. Maybe let him have a triumph roll or something if.you are unsure

I don't think you need to worry since Retributor hit very hard. Also the starter comes with 2 units of Liberators and not judicators.
The Liberators also have the Lay low the Tyrant rule, Which let them to add +1 to their to hit rolls if they attack anything with more then 5 wounds.
