Hey, so I just ordered the start collecting box and want to make some wylwoods and have a couple questions:

1. Does anyone have the exact or rough dimensions for the footprint?

2. Would a mouse pad make a good base/footprint material which I will then paint and add trees to?

1. I don't have the dimensions, but I can tell you that what we're going to do is purchase one (~$30 USD?), buy a 2'x2' MDF board form a hardware store, trace however many will fit and then use a jigsaw to cut them out. We'll be using that as a base for adding trees, grass, rocks, etc.

2. Mouse pads are way to porous and "floppy". I don't think they're going to take paint or glue well. Worth a shot, I suppose, but I'm not optimistic.

Also, check with your regular opponents. I live in a very "official" models only, what you see is what you get sort of area. Our MDF woods will be accepted because they'll be the exact same shape and size. A mouse pad or area of woods with a different shape/size probably wouldn't be.

Thank for the reply! The kit is just so expensive though and I really dislike the trees but maybe I should just for the size. I'll look for something sturdier and my opponents would be fine with it, so long as it's roughly the same it's good

As a fun fact the trees are basically the same size as a 50mm base, I made a few upturned ones with some cheap plastic plants I got from ebay to save carrying around the trees as they're a bit bulky.

Plants I think were something like under $5 for at least 50+ of the things. Rubber mats like a mouse pad sound like a good idea for transport too, but you'd want it printed on them not painted as that will crack as it flexes around. Maybe you could find a place that prints gaming mats for card games or something as some of them are bound to do custom prints then you cut that to the right size. Could even be a company that makes something passable like that anyway, but have no idea of any.
