Hey guys, what do you think of the new Strike Force Ultima box? Is it worth getting, is it a good deal, how do you feel about the models inside? As always, leave a comment, and peace.

It looks like a good deal for what you get. Can't speak to how good it is (Terminators don't seem to be good, neither do Land Raiders) but visually it looks like a great "core" to an army, like especially if you add in some Guard or similar (think a defense force being relieved by the Marines) or a Knight, or maybe some other allied Imperial contingent. I mean, just thinking of how that would look on the table I think it would look pretty cool. If I didn't have a ton of other projects I'd seriously be tempted to do that.

Land Raiders are expensive and not very useful (both in and out of the game) so unless you want one of those then its kind of a waste. Terminators can be a similar problem so if they aren't what you really want then its not beneficial.

Great savings if you want all the models. Not worth it if your performance concerned and don't plan on using Land Raider + Terminators.

As with all the box sets, it’s value goes down the more stuff you don’t want.

Some of the contents are solid, core stuff that can be utilized by most lists. Pod/Razor, sternguard, tacs.

The Stormhawk has the problem of being a new kit, not found in most formations. So unless you are running a CAD, has issues. That said, it’s rules seem solid for what it is.

I’m a little miffed about the terminator captain, squad, and LR. You have 6 TDA bodies, and a tank that hold 5. If they had been an TDA assault squad in a LRR/C, it would have been a much better box. Or just owned the fact that the terminators and captain were going to DS, and use the space in the box to get us something more useful then a LR.

That side of the box is on the weak side because of it. They included some sub-par units, and not even the best versions of them. For a starting player in a friendly meta, this is not a huge deal. They happen to be very iconic units. But once people start making more competitive lists, they are going to warm the shelf.

Seems like the perfect box if you want an army that works for C:SM and CSM at the time

You’d have to do a bit of modding/counts as to pull it off.

And head to FW for rules for some of that.

Drop Pod? I’ve seen some mods to build it as a dreadclaw.
Stormhawk? Not sure what an equivalent chaos flyer is. It’s no heldrake.
Terminators? The storm/combi bolter is one thing, but the all powerfists is another. While I think you can field them that way, nobody wants to.
Razor is just spare bits on a rhino (which you can use)

Yeah I was thinking you'd have to use a bunch of extra bits and convert. Drop pod is probably gonna be scenery for CSM to be honest, for the Stormhawk I was thinking of one of the forge world flyers, terminators can be fixed easily with bits, rhino is rhino
