Hey guys. I'm working on building a guard list, using my death korps figures... Using AM rules. I haven't played 40k in quite a long time, and need to make a few purchases to make this list, so would hope to get some feedback before I buy. I have about 90% of the models.
Overall I'm hoping to make this list fairly competitive as a all-takers list. I know I could amp it up, with what I think would be inquisitorial allies for servo skulls and rad grenades, or a psycolocum (so?)... Or perhaps an defence line. Alas I don't own those codexes, and am reluctant to invest (they are required to play at local store). Maybe it's worth the plunge.
Here goes: don't know what my local meta is like as I'm going to be brand new to the scene.
Thanks guys!
Astra Militarum Codex:
HQ: 365 pts
Tank Commander:
HQ Vanquisher, LC - 175
Executioner, LC - 165
Priest - 25 with 30 man squad
Troops: 530 pts
Infantry Platoon:
PCS Autocannon, Flamer, Vox - 50
Combined:
IS: Autocannon, GL - 65
IS: Autocannon, GL - 65
Combined:
IS: Power Sword, Flamer, Vox - 75
IS: Flamer - 55
IS: Flamer - 55
Veterans: 3x Plasma Gun, Grenadiers 100
Dedicated Chimera: ML, HB - 65
Fast Attack:
Hellhound: 125 pts
Heavy:
Leman Russ Battle Tank, HB - 150 pts
Wyvern: 65
Total Points: 1250
General strategy is to have a gun line with 20 man infantry squad, and command section. Lemans holding the flanks, with wyvern out of sight.
Hellhound and vets work in conjunction to threaten any no mans land objectives, with melee blob advancing on another, or blanketing a threatened flank.
Not sure if I should be worried about:
More AT
More mobility
More AA
Any advice much appreciated.
