Grav-gun Squadron is pretty neat especially against MEQ.

Also, what is the purpost of those two empty FA Drop Pods?

I like it, just be careful of people who will null deploy on you. Making you come down with 4 of the drop pods turn one

50% of your drop pods arrive turn 1

Taking empty's means that I will get 4 out 5 drop pods in turn 1.

If my opponent does something that can potential mess up my turm 1 attack then I can send in 2 empty drop pods.

Turn 1 I will always have 1 unit still in reserve I just don't have the points available to take more without weakening the list.

For 2k I will probably take a Second Libby then run double force org and take 2 extra emptys.

The emptys are good for landing on objectives. If you place the Drop Pod dead center you can scatter aroind 5 inches with the doors shut and still be in range to hold. If you drop the doors down then you have a bit more distance to scatter.

They don't have objective secured though so you will need to blow any oposing models off the objective. The drop pod is a good camper though.

Vs Null deploymemt I will probably throw them 2 empty pods and 2 filled with men. That way I still have 3 squads to hit them with in a counter punch

Not as brutal on the offensive but still not a bad option.

I really like how this looks... Admittedly, I've been eyeing Deathwatch. Not sure what items to buy. I didn't see a "veterans" box in GW's website, though. Is there a reason for that?

Also, is this being run as a Combined Arms Detachment? Or is there any specific formation this list fits into?

Anything with mass interceptor is going to be painful for you(looking at you Tau).

Yeah Tau will give me a lot of grief.

I am building this list to have some things to work in with my Grey Knights. The NDK's can handle the Interceptors when I drop an empty Pod in.

Yes this is a Combined Arms Detachment.
I find this to work best as you can combat squad your Veterans after they hit the ground.
You also get Objective Secured with the Drop Pods which gives them a good role after the guys jump out.

It will work, I can confirm from ITC. Just beware Tau interceptors, got tabled by turn 3. Anything else should be okay, just don't get beta strike-d or munched by deathstars.

I run it a bit different @ 1850, I take it you will combat squad them if need be?

Depends on the meta and what you will be facing. Deathwatch do not have staying power on the table, with the abundance of ignore cover deathwatch marines will die painfully.

~4000 pts Deathwatch
~4000 pts ORKS ORKS ORKS
~1000 pts Sphess Mahreen

I have to agree.

I ran a 1250 version of this in a doubles tournament with my friend. He was running a Venom Spam Dark Eldar army. It was my jobs to remove vehicles and his job to blast away anything with a Toughness value.

It worked a treat and we placed 1st.

I think with this type of Army it is very important to pick your targets wisely to prevent getting hit back.

Basically anything with AP3+ must die or be out of range after Turn 1.

Another Tactic for Beta Strike Armies is to drop in the empty pods first. That way you can have your guys comming in fresh another turn to counter Beta Strike.
