Inspired by the P&M blog of Dakka's own Commander Cain I'm looking into starting a sort of alternate reality Space Marine army, where one of the Traitor legions actually remained loyal to the Imperium. The Legion in question that I was looking into was World Eaters (or possibly EC), but I'm a bit stuck on which CT would fit those crazy boys the best. Suggestions are welcome.

TheEyeOfNight- "Ordo Xenos reports that the Necrons have attained democracy, kamikaze tendencies, and nuclear fission. It's all tits up, sir."
Space Marine flyers are shaped for the greatest possible air resistance so that the air may never defeat the SPACE MARINES!
Sternguard though, those guys are all about kicking ass. They'd chew bubble gum as well, but bubble gum is heretical. Only tau chew gum

Carcharodons (Forge World Chapter Tactics). You don't have unique relics or a meta-detachment, but you have Rage and chainsword/pistol Tactical Marines.

Also it isn't much of an alternate reality to work with a splinter of a Traitor Legion that remained loyal, as far as I know no Legion was completely and totally unified in its actions during the Heresy. There were loyalists from traitor Legions and traitors from loyal Legions.

Well I also was going to be primarily using a mix ofmodern armor marks/Models from BoP and BaC and modernvehicles for the army, so the "alternate timeline" was just a convenient excuse

The current state of canon is that pretty much everything from 30k is still floating around, except for a few unique Legion-specific units (who have fallen out of use for one reason or another) and a few fancy/upscale vehicles (which can't be fixed or replicated anymore, and are gathering dust in a Martian warehouse waiting for a real emergency). One of the easiest excuses for using Calth Tactical Marines is "We're the Raptors/Reasonable Marines, we don't wander around covered in parchment, wax, and bling all the time."

For what it is worth one of my best friends plays real 30k loyalist world eaters. There is even a special character or two from World Eaters who are Loyalist only, since none of the legions were wholly traitor or wholly loyalist.

I'd dearly love to play legitimate 30k, as the cost could be somewhat mitigated by spreading out purchases, but my LGS doesn't like using FW rules, so 40k will have to do until I can bring them around to 30k
