Has anyone else had much luck in promoting AoS in areas it's doing poorly "rebranded"?
I've been thinking of starting up a group (it's not popular at all here) where the AoS rules are used, but all those armies and characters from the warhammer world are current.
Does it work? Or do the legacy armies just struggle to stay relevant?

Brettonia is actually pretty boss compared to their weak selves in 8th, ha.

I say 'go for it'.

My mileage has varied thusly:

People I've encountered tended to be:
*Upset about lack of points (fixed-ish by GHB)
*Became suddenly more forgiving of 'THAT GAME' once points were officially available
*Upset because the internet told them they should be
*Actually thought AoS was a solid rule set once they actually played the flipping thing
*Turned out that the background could be anything they wanted it to be
*Actually liked sigmarines once they got a chance to have two wounds (at least) per model smacking chaos units around

It actually works better than rank and flank for many of the most iconic battles from the world that was. La maisontaal. All of the Goblin/Skaven/Dwarf underground wars. Absurdly thick jungle battles between Lizards/Skaven/Dark Elves/Undead.

yeah and most interesting (read only) campaign I ever got to touch in AoS was the "fall of the silver pinnacle" from the novel "Neferata" run in my basement ( as an aside, this time it did NOT fall ). As above, the rules while not very good, are a hell of a lot more palatable to folks when the old world is retained. the small and mostly disbanded group did like the open formation of the game, otherwise we abandoned it.
