So this is an experiment... for science!

I know it's not a list that really plays well to FSE Tau's strengths, but its what I've got for models and I don't think it's too awful, considering it uses most of the models I have assembled (or nearly assembled) in my house right now. (The real first step is to find a FLGS that doesn't focus on Warmahordes as their wargame of choice)

CORE = HUNTER CADRE

Commander (Warlord)
TL Fusion + Fusion, Target Lock
Fusion Blades, Iridium Armor, PEN, Neuroweb

Cadre Fireblade

Strike Team
x12 w/ Bonding Knife
SMS Turret

Strike Team
x6 w/ Bonding Knife
MP Turret

Breacher Team
x6 w/ Bonding Knife and EMP Grenades

Breacher Team
x12 /w Bonding Knife
Shas'ui w/ Guardian Drone

Crisis Battlesuits
x3 w/ Bonding Knife
Plasma Rifle x2, Adv Targeting (x3)

Pathfinder Team
x8 w/ Bonding Knife

Sniper Drone Team

Broadside Battlesuit
TL HYMP & SMS
EWO, Bonding Knife
Seeker Missile

Hammerhead Gunship
TL burst cannons, 2 Seeker Missiles
D Pod, Sensor Spines, Adv Targeting
Longstrike

AUXILIARY = DRONE-NET VX1-0

Markerlight Drones x4

Markerlight Drones x4

Gun Drones x4

Gun Drones x4

Strategy would be to slide Commander in with the other Crisis suits and do some harassment in the backlines while Fireblade goes with the big block of Fire Warriors and stays back home with the tank, broadside, and probably the marker drones. Put in Breachers just because I like them, rarely see them, and can use them to try and grab objectives from other spots on the board. Plenty of Markerlight support, and a solid mix of threats to MEQ, TEQ, and Vehicles (even flyers with all of those markerlights), I think it'd do okay.

Total comes up to 1500 points on the dot. Again, I'm not looking to win big or anything like that, (and the thought of owning 3 riptides let alone fielding all of them at once makes me marginally ill lol) just wondering from a theory stand-point how the list would hold up overall.

No Riptide?

I think fielding just one or two Riptide models is ok, which will give you another mainstay. Tough I agree that fielding a unit of 3 is nasty, fielding Riptide Wing with units of 3 riptide might be almost "That guy" if not in tournament.

And at 1500pts should be easy for you to fit one in Hunter cadre.

I thought marker lights don't help vs flyers?
Multiple modifiers says it goes multiplications -> additions -> set values.
So since you must snap shot at flyers, which means you must fire at BS1, first you add however many markerlights, then you set it to 1 anyway.

Also if you happen to want 3 Riptides PM me (UK) mine need a new home :p.

Yeah again, no riptide because I don't currently own one. And once I do, since I'm running FSE I'll probably shift over to a Retribution Cadre (thats my next set of purchases to round out my Crisis suits and get some more Broadsides, particularly since the only one i have is one of the old kits that gets added to a crisis suit haha). After more crisis suits, I'll be looking to pick up a riptide and maybe a cluster of ghostkeels (always did like those), and some stealth suits for an optimized stealth cadre.

Marker lights can still help, they can't boost ballistic skill, but they could remove jink (if i'm lucky enough to get two) and the seeker missiles only need one to fire. Plus depending on the flier if I get two, i've got a solid 26-30 shots at up to 30" if they wander too close to my squad with the fireblade.

Thanks for the input!

The Pinpoint ability allows Markerlights to specifically modify the BS of a Snapshot.
