I have a few questions for you guys if you wouldn't mind. I found extra bits of Black Templars over Christmas and I got to putting them together and I'm planning on just throwing together a kill team for fun and I don't own the rulebook yet or a codex for Black Templars so I am lacking quite a bit of information.

1. Is this a valid setup for a Sergeant Veteran, if that's even a thing(Storm Bolter/Storm Shield).
2. What loadout should my tactical marines have and are there any Black Templar chapter bonuses(not 100% concerned about it)
3. Are Black Templars even sold anymore, cause I have an old unopened battalion box that comes with 2 squads and a rhino.

I'm a bit of a big scrub cause I've always loved the models but have barely played. I might even make a switch to Imperial Fists instead based on your feedback.

Go for the Black Templar, but use a Crusader Squad rather than a Tac Squad so that at 5 guys you get the Sgt's weapons a Special Weapon and a Heavy Weapon.

Alright awesome, thank you very much!

Would that mean Crusaders would do better with Bolt Pistols And Chainswords or are Bolt Rifles still fine

With crusaders you're free to mix & match, which if you're taking a minimum squad with upgrades could be:

Sword Brother - Pwep
Heavy weapon - Grav Cannon
Special weapon - Grav Gun
Trooper A - Bolter
Trooper B - Pistol/CCW

Two of those and perhaps some jump vanguard could go a long way. Alternatively a Razorback would be quite valuable, if a bit less fluffy.

Some people find the idea that other people can be happy offensive, and will prefer causing harm to self improvement.

For my BT kill team, I had a heavy bolter marine with rending. He was my MVP!

BT make great use of how many weapons they can bring in such a small squad. and for extra bodies the neophytes can bring up the model count.

Yep! Also, tossing in a few BP + CCW crusaders is useful!

Tossing rending on a model with that can be very effective.
