Subject: Forces of Nature model question.

So I am starting out building a forces of nature army and I want my theme to be more the elemental and druid side. I like the tree theme but I was thinking of doing more of a druid shapeshifting thing. My question is do others think that skin walkers from Privateer's orboros line would make good forest shambler substitues.
Here is the link to what they look like.
http://privateerpress.com/hordes/gallery/circle-orboros/units/warpborn-skinwalkers
Thanks for any input

Yeah I guess they don't look slow. They don't look like cavalry so I wouldn't want to use them as wyrm riders.

While I agree they do not look slow, it's your army and if you like the look, you should run with it.
You may also want to consider http://www.reapermini.com/ . They have a large line and the new Reaper Bones are inexpensive alternatives.

Yeah I am using a lot of the reaper bones minis for my elementals, monsters and centaurs. I agree good stuff for pretty cheap.

Yeah I was considering some of those for earth elementals. They could work as forest shamblers as well.
Thanks guys

For Earth Elementals, a mix of Reaper Large Earth Elementals and Reaper Crystal Golems is what I'm doing.

How tall is the Reaper crystal golem? The Earth Elemental certainly seems larger, but I like the look of the crystal golem better. {Looking for an Obsidian Golem substitute as after buying the Supreme Iron Caster on Abyssal Steed, I dislike Mantic's large models.}

The Large Earth Elemental is about 3 inches high or so, but i can't speak for the Crystal Golem. Big fan of the Earth Elemental though

The Crystal Golem is a lot shorter. Here's a crappy comparison picture, the other figure is a Warmachine caster on a 30mm for scale.

I like the look of them flanking the bigger Earth Elementals, I'm not sure they're bulky enough on their own.

Thanks for the comparison shot, TheWaspinator. And thanks for the reply Grimmor. The Crystal Golem's faceted body looks better to me than the weathered look of the Large Earth Elemental, but if the former is smaller, I guess I need to keep looking. Alternately, I have a number of Deep Wars figures that I'm not using. While they'd be better suited to Trident Realms, there's a large bio-mechanical monstrosity that's suitably impressive.

and now in the thread in which I intended to post this:
If you like a more faceted look it might be worth seeing if you can get hold of an (old stock) Malifaux Avatar of Famine model. OOP and there's some design elements that might be dealbreakers but it is faceted and about the size you're looking for.
...Another alternative would be Mierce's Vaak. Probably too big (will need at least 75x75mm) and certainly pricey but it's a great model. (oh and check out their Ettu, perhaps. Don't have one myself but it seems to fit the bill quite well also. by the look of the 80mm round base it's on you might even be able to get it on a 50mm square).

I think a few of these along side the mantic elementals would look good.
On another note, what does everyone think of this guy as a greater elemental?
http://www.gf9-dnd.com/miniatures/tabid/86/entryid/201/Default.aspx
I haven't been able to find any good size comparisons for this guy or any of the elemental myrmidons but I really like the models especially the fire and water ones.

Thanks for the tip. The Ettu does look good, but the price ... Still, it's something to consider.
@ Waspinator: Not quite to my taste, but thanks for the link. IIRC, it's also only about 3" tall.
@FirePainter: Those elemental myrmidons do look good. I particularly like the Fire Myrmidon. You certainly could use them as greater elementals.
EDIT: Just sent an e-mail to GF9 about the elemental myrmidons regarding size. If they answer, I'll post the reply here.

If you like a more faceted look ...
Continuing with the faceted / gem look: Dark Age Greater Ice Elemental 2.0 Dark Age Greater Ice Elemental 1.0 Dark Age Hailkin IMO all pretty great, including the old big icy if you're running two earth ('gem') elementals so need two similar models. Love those hailkin in particular for monstrous infantry. In the same vein there's the Malifaux Ice Golem ( & 1.0), however I feel like the DA stuff is nicer (and easier to buy separately, as IIRC the ice golem is only part of Rasputina's starter box, or trades/auctions obviously). - Salvage

Thanks, Boss Salvage. The Dark Age Greater Ice Elemental 1.0 is to my taste, and at a comfortable price. Also, you are right about the Malifaux Ice Golem. Despite owning the original one from 1st ed, I'd forgotten about it (probably because it wasn't worth using in 1st ed). However, as I did paint it as an Ice Golem, I'll leave it as is. (It can proxy in the meantime.)
Incidentally, a Mr. Matthew Maggitti answered my e-mail about the elemental myrmidons. Here's what he wrote:
" The D&D Collector series is cast from high-quality resin.
I took a look at our figure case. I’d estimate that the Myrmidions are roughly 4 inches and a bit tall.
You can take a look at gf9.com for pictures and painting guides.
The product codes are:
71038 Fire Myrmidion
70140 Earth
71042 Water
71044 Air"

If they are 4 inches tall that is darn near perfect for greater elementals since the the reaper large fire elemental is right about 3 inches tall.
Awesome thanks for the info Hamster!

For a completely different look - there is The Spirit of the Forest from Reaper... $7 in space age Bonesium.
About three inches tall, if I remember properly.
*EDIT* Posted a painted version, because it was hard to see detail on the plain white Bones...
