Hi Everyone,
Apologies if this has already been discussed but I couldn't find anything online. Can you take a RoW that specifies no allied detachments (eg. Coils of the Hydra) with a shattered legion force?

On the one hand they count as allies, on the other they are all in the same detachment.

Shattered Legions can take any RoW as long as they fit the requirements.

My guess is that they are not considered to be allies, because almost all legion RoWs have a no allied detachment rule. In addition if you cannot use shattered legions with the RoW it specifically says so.

That being said I don't think we will get a firm answer until a FAQ is released.

Shattered legions can take RoWs. IIRC they can even take ones that say "no allies" though I'm not 100% sure.

either way, that gives you access to a decent number of Legion specific ROWs (if they can take them, it's been a while since I touched shattered legions) and:
Angels Wrath
Armoured Spearhead
Orbital Assault
Armoured Breakthrough
Brethren of Iron
Recon Company
Zones Mortalis
Skyhunter Phalanx
And More

They can, but to take the Legion Specific ones you'll need the Warlord to be from that Legion (or be Shadrak Meduson, who has access to Legion RoW from the IH, Salamanders and Raven Guard).

The 'no allies' provision in Rites of War is worded as 'no Allied Detachment', which has no effect on Shattered Legions using units with different versions of the Legiones Astartes rule in their primary detachment. You can totally take no-allies Rites with Shattered Legions.
