So me and some friends are planning a big day of Horus heresy warfare, it's at least 5v5 2000pt armies plus a primarch if you have one.

So we're talking atleast 10,000pts a side in total.

Here is what I'm thinking my contribution to the traitors will be.

+++ Sons of Horus (Warhammer 30,000 - The Horus Heresy v43) (2499pts) +++

+ HQ (775pts) +

Horus the Warmaster (500pts) [Master of the Legion, Primarch]

Legion Centurion (105pts) [Artificer Armour]
Consul
Master of Signal [Support Officer]

Legion Praetor (170pts) [Cataphractii Terminator Armour with Combi-bolter and Power Weapon, Master of the Legion, Paragon Blade, The Cataphractii Primus]

+ Troops (1294pts) +

Justaerin Terminator Squad (313pts) [Chainfist, 4x Combi-Weapon, 5x Justaerin Terminators, 4x Power Fist]

Justaerin Terminator Squad (313pts) [Chainfist, 4x Combi-Weapon, 5x Justaerin Terminators, 4x Power Fist]

Legion Veteran Tactical Squad (340pts) [Anvillus Pattern Dreadclaw Drop Pod, 9x Legion Veteran Space Marines, Legion Veteran Tactical Squad, Veteran Tactics: Marksmen]
Additional Wargear
Combi-weapon [Combi-weapon: Meltagun]
Combi-weapon [Combi-weapon: Meltagun]
Combi-weapon [Combi-weapon: Meltagun]
Legion Veteran Sergeant [Artificer Armour, Bolt Pistol, Power Fist]
Combi-weapon [Combi-weapon: Meltagun]
Standard Wargear [Bolt Pistols, Bolters, Chainswords/Combat Blades, Frag and Krak Grenades, Power Armour]

Legion Veteran Tactical Squad (328pts) [Anvillus Pattern Dreadclaw Drop Pod, 8x Legion Veteran Space Marines, Legion Veteran Tactical Squad, Veteran Tactics: Marksmen]
Additional Wargear
Combi-weapon [Combi-weapon: Meltagun]
Combi-weapon [Combi-weapon: Meltagun]
Combi-weapon [Combi-weapon: Meltagun]
Legion Veteran Sergeant [Artificer Armour, Bolt Pistol, Power Fist]
Combi-weapon [Combi-weapon: Meltagun]
Standard Wargear [Bolt Pistols, Bolters, Chainswords/Combat Blades, Frag and Krak Grenades, Power Armour]

+ Fast Attack (430pts) +

Primaris-Lightning Strike Fighter (215pts) [Battle Servitor Control, Ground-tracking Auguries, Twin-linked Autocannon, Two Kraken penetrator heavy missiles]

Primaris-Lightning Strike Fighter (215pts) [Battle Servitor Control, Ground-tracking Auguries, Twin-linked Autocannon, Two Kraken penetrator heavy missiles]

+ Legion +

Legiones Astartes [ XVI: Sons of Horus, Traitor]

Rite of War [Orbital Assault]

Horus and the praetor each go with some justaerin. MoS goes with a vet squad, I think the rest is quite self explanatory.

Would be keen to know what you think of this contribution to my team.

Thanks!

FYI, you can't null deploy in 30K. If you don't have any models on the table at any point in the game, you auto lose. See pg. 113 The Horus Heresy Legiones Astartes: Age of Darkness Army List. So, first thing: I'd deploy something out on the table, and hope it survives turn 1.

I would discuss this with the loyalists a few days prior to your game and check where they stand on Null deployment. If they are saying to you that the auto-lose would be on a player by player basis, I would agree with the above. Deploy something in deep and sturdy cover til the rest of your stuff can come on. If they are saying that you wouldnt be out of the game because the other traitor players have models on the table, then no changes needed, and it looks like a very fun speartip.

LUPERCAL!!

Edit: also I would love to see some screenshots of your battle when it comes to it. Pm me a link to a blog or anything if the pictures for the day get put up anywhere

It is a 10k+ game, so your friend's stuff will survive past turn 1, guaranteeing your arrival.

Personally, I'd take more Justaerin Terminators with combibolters and lightning claws instead of the anvillus veterans. You can then take advantage of both of the legion specific traits. These could be accompanied by a chaplain in terminator armour instead of a master of signal.

Consider finding space for a Damocles Command Rhino. It will help reserve arrive and land accurately.

If it is possible, allow Perturabo to be the warlord, I don't think Horus suffers for not being the warlord, but the Relentless Strategist (Perturabo's warlord trait) favours your reserves arriving earlier, and gives you free Furious Charge whilst inside the enemy deployment zone.

Speaking of the enemy's deployment zone, you are the Warmaster, you should be rampaging through it, clearing objectives and advancing.

Holding objectives is for peasants in the IV.

Sons of Horus have the Bitter Pride rule- they can't benefit from an allied Warlord's traits.

Only thing I'd suggest, and honestly it's just personal preference, is to swap the comb-meltas and PF in the 10 man vet squad for as many combi-grenade as you can fit. 2 Sniper BS5 small blasts from each will do some mean damage to infantry.
