Best Transport for Pyroclasts.
x10 in a Spartan Assault Tank (To double up with Firedrakes)
x10 in a Land Raider Proteus (To Manipulate Reserves)
x10 in a Land Raider Phobos (In case you need to assault)
Two seperate squads of x05, each in a Land Raider Achilles
Land Raiders are too exspensive dummy! Stick with Rhinos!

Just wondering what you guys would go with, specifically for Pyroclasts.

I'm getting ready to order a Spartan assault tank for my Firedrakes, and part of me thinks maybe a second Spartan would be cool for redundancy, but the point costs are a bit crazy at that point.

I have x10 Pyroclasts, so the possibility of splitting them up into two squads is also on the table. in which case two Land Raiders of some kind could totally work, even two Achilles.

The Proteus also seems kind of interesting though, to help with manipulating reserve rolls, while possibly helping to stave off the opponents reserves.

I'm not sure about the Phobos, but they're cheaper, easier to get a hold of, etc. anyway, I'd just appreciate any thoughts on the subject elaborated on if possible.

I voted for the proteus.

Pyroclasts are not assault units, so you dont really need assault vehicle to make best use of them.
The proteus can take an additional TL lascannon, useful for opening rhinos and the like.
A squad of ten probably benefits from having a proteus to ride in and it is probably a dedicated transport option.
Its cheaper than the achilles by a long shot. (points wise)

The other land raider class vehicles eat into your heavy support choices.
The proteus looses some transport capacity to take the exploratory web, so be careful there.
If you want reserves manipulation, I would suggest a damocles rhino.

Thanks for the reply!

The Proteus is actually the one that most intrigues me. Mainly for disruption mode.

I'm wondering if there's a cheap way to magnetize a dozer blade on the front of a regular land raider to make a Phobos/Proteus that you could swap to either mode.

The Achilles looks great on paper, but it is a lot more expensive, I'm not sure it would get it's points back on average.

I'd use proteus, with array. It received a big point drop and the scout buff from the array synergize well with the pro's.

The Pyroclasts are really just a Tactical Support Squad so a Rhino should be enough for them. Move forward, Get out, Shoot. If you have the points then put them in a Proteus.

I'm getting ready to purchase the red books (Age of Darkness Legions and Army List)

Is the point drop documented in those?

I've been collecting models around PDF's of the black books from the start to save money for models and test games, I know for some that might be sacrilege, but these things add up, however I was leaning Proteus either way, and a point drop sounds aces to me.

So take a Rhino as a Fast Attack slot or something since you can't take it as a dedicated transport?
