Hi all,

It's been a long time since I posted, been away from the game for a little while and coming back into it I'm a little confused about army building.
I get unbound (not my cup of tea personally) but wanted to check I'm on the right lines with battleforged (Tau army).

If I take a Combined Arms Detatchment with hq, 2 troops and a fortification from Tau codex, then ally with a Farsight enclave detachment with 1 hq and 1 troop and take a formation (tau standard) does this count as battle forged?

What about if I take a dawn blade contingent with contingent HQ, retaliation cadre and drone jet?

I'm pretty sure the suggestions I made are fine but I wanted to make sure I'm on the right lines.

The basic and simple explanation is this:

If every model in your army is part of a detachment or formation, it is battle forged. (CAD and allied detachments are just those, detachments)

If not, it is unbound.

There are detachments with open slots, like the CAD, and then there are fixed formations. The formations usually confer some kind of benefit.
