Subject: Why does GW not have a Red Corsairs supplement?

I have no idea why GW hasn't made a Red Corsairs supplement. They already have a good warlord option, Huron Blackheart, and they don't lore wise have many restrictions.
What do you guys think?

Why do we ride atop these elegant craft? The better to hear the screams of our prey as we ride them down, to savour the fear etched on their faces, to taste the tantalising tang of their blood in the air as an appetiser before the feast. But most of all we ride them so that the slaughter may begin as soon as possible. |

Because GW only has limited resources to spend on making supplements and they choose to spend it on making supplements for things that are more worthwhile in their opinion.
There is loads of subfactions within 40k factions that could get a supplement.

They have one supplement. It was made during 5th ed.

Because for some reason they decided to make yet another red and black and gold CSM faction and the 2nd prominent recent recent renegade chapter in the same colors.
Honestly, I think it would be pretty straightforward: go with the ancient version, give them some restrictions and access to some Marine options. In fact, I think what would actually make sense is a catch-all "legion" equivalent to represent modern renegades like that... Feel the whole thing could be done in the same like 4-6ish pages.
Kragan, are you talking about the astral claws/badab FW stuff? 'Cause that's all I remember.

Huh, yes. Sorry, mixed it up. Don't know why but thought they had a supplement back in 5th.

Because they thought the Crimson Slaughter could have been the new poster child for CSM (which at the time started shifting towards newer-renegade chapters rather than the traitor legions) and forgot the Red Corsairs existed.
Which is an honest to god shame.

Probably because almost anything you wanted to do with a renegade supplement can easily be covered with either the base dex, Crimson Slaughter or the vanilla marines dex while the only that that the vast, vast majority of CSM players cared about were legions and for the most part, the chaos whinging has all but stopped once we got a fluffy legions supplement (even though it's mid-teir at best, proving all the naysayers who just claimed we wanted 3.5 ed's power level back).
I'd much rather the Ork Klans got a book before Renegades. Hell, I'd rather Kraftworlds got their own supplement before Renegades did and I loathe Eldar with every fibre of my being.

The Craftworlds actually deserve a supplement more than any other subfaction since they were technically the first one in Warhammer History to get a supplement to their own codex (at least I think, did it come out before Armageddon and the BA, SW and DA minidexes?)

IIRC, Craftworlds came out between the first 3 marines and armageddon, and then eye of terror expanded that with the 2nd ulthwe variant among others?

Welp, look at all the egg on my face.
Still though, I feel like they deserve a supplement more. I was hoping for a Biel Tan army and just when that seemed to be happening, Ynnead had to happen.

According to the Wikipedia article the Blood Angels, Dark Angels, Catachans and Space Wolves "mini-dexes" came out before the Craftworld Eldar "mini-dex".

I agree with this, and will expand upon it to say that the Xenos Races need more love than the Imperium and Chaos.

Is there something special about them that would make a supplement worthwhile? A vanilla CSM army list seems to be ideal for them.

I agree while Red Corsairs are awesome fluff wise.. they don't really have anything special that would justify a separate codex

I think GW could stand to tone it way the hell back with the number of forced codices/supplements, etc. When you start pumping out stuff (granted people buy it, so GW makes money) as fast as they are, you can see it in the weakness of the lists and codex materials.
They seem to be obsessed with trying to make everything so different. This means poorly sculpting piss-poor special rules over every damn entry, trying to make it unique. It comes off as a very rushed, half-ass attempt at rules making.
I think the very last thing they need is another supplement or codex. Put a character in White Dwarf and have a formation (ugh) if you want...that's all you need.
