What are some good options for chaos aligned factions to bring in a solid base for some psychic shenanigans?
Normally I would run my chaos guys as kdk, but I am aware that I could also use the models for a daemon/csm/legion army.
So I'm spitballing some ideas with the aim of having a couple of guys who I could swap in/out when I want to provide some psychic support to any/all of the armies I mentioned

Some of the forces which caught my eye was the cabal, tetrad and ahrimans exiles. But which can best fit the widest range of army builds? Exalted sorcerers look shooty as feth, regular sorcerors can be customised for a range of roles (e.g nurgle palanquin to tank perils from summoning) and 4 princes just sounds awesome, but I was wondering if the wise denizens of dakka would care to weigh in on where chaos can get a powerful psychic phase going without building the entire army around it?

Chaos undivided: 8300, Tau empire: 5600, Ork speed freaks: 1750

Basically anything tzeentch in chaos daemons. But it depends on what you want to do with the psykers. The TSons formations and daemons have trouble joining other units for example.

A black legion cyclopian cabal detachment is the easiest way to splash some wizards into your daemonkin army without a bunch of tax units. It helps that they're super versatile as well. 3-5 ICs on bikes with spell familiars, relentless combi weapons and instant death, gives you additional punch where it's most effective each turn. Their special psyker power also adds some nice additional shooting against gun line armies.

if you dont wanna go down the Tzeentch daemon battery route, the Cabal is the easiest way to psyker spam,

always take a spell familiar.

I think Daemon Princes are expensive enough without making them Psykers, but with the number of wounds, and daemon rule to mitigate daemonology, they can pull off powers very well.

Pray to all the chaos gods that you're opponent doesn't run a culexus in his army.

One has to wonder. Do the Tyranids consider drop-assault troops... fast food?

The Cabal-Hound-star was a staple in competative circles for ages and is still one of our more solid options if you don't mind the fluff rape.

The Heralds Anarchic provide a bunch of dice and Div/Summons for cheap along with the 100% chance of summoning on 5 dice, which is nice.

The Tetrad is the focus of an army, not something to add to another army as support, but I would think KDK would do poorly as support for a Tetrad anyway.

Ahriman's Exiles are too expensive for what they give and are forced to waste rolls on the Tz table which is still bad.

The Cabal seems like the best option for you since it's literally just 3-5 sorcs with absolutely no tax (now that you can have VotLW for free) and it slots into any CSM or KDK army with ease.

Done. Add more sorcerors as desired, but that's the base and probably the best you're going to get. You want max ML's since you need the WC to power your spells as well as some insurance for getting the powers you want (read: invis and endurance) while the bike gets them mobility, increased toughness, jink and they won't slow down hounds who should be their bodyguards while the familiar means your powers are more consistant and you can stretch the warp charge you do have further.

If you're just after summons or divination buffs, then the Heralds would have to be the top choice, though you'd have to be more careful with how you hide them since they won't be able to join CSM or KDK units while also being restricted to only joining Tz Daemon units.

70 - Herald, Paradox
45 - Herald

Much cheaper, but "only" 6 warp charge. Very useful for dependable summoning via paradox or to hand out prescience and other Div buffs if you don't want to summon. Can easily scale up to very large amounts of WC, to the point where they are the second cheapest WC generators in the game (after inquisition psychers, though it's cheaper to take another ML1 herald than to buy more WC levels). Lots of useful options beyond Paradox and more ML's too, with Disk's being solid choices for durability and movement, grimoure for use on your KDK or summoned stuff, Portalglyph for additional support for cheap (a single pink horror still generates a WC and still splits into a blue and a brimstone who also generate WC) or a plethora of other options depending on how much and what type of additional daemons you take.

What, you don't like rolling dice to see how many dice you roll? Why are you such an anti-dice bigot?
