Anyway found it:
GIANT SPINED CHAOS BEAST v1
Many horrors too foul to name spill from the Chaos Wastes. They are the foul abomination of
Chaos, creatures taken by the dark gods and corrupted for their entertainment or possessed by
ravenous daemons. Tormented and driven insane by its new hideous form, its soul driven by the
base desires of the daemon within, the Chaos Beast seeks only to kill before being slain in its
turn. Chaos Beasts come in many forms, but each is a creature of muscles, sinew, fangs and
claws, with only one thought driving it, to charge headlong into the enemy, tearing and goring a
bloody path across the battlefield.

I have a Slaughterbrute/Mutalith Vortex Beast kit, I like it but there are several things wrong with it.
First, I dont like that it fits supposedly on a chariot base. the base is virtually bursting at the seams to fit it on, it overhangs on every side. I tried the model on a 100-150 base and it made a lot more sense.
Second I dont like the Salughterbrute, the swords in the back and stave look ridiculous, and I dont like the concept either. It doesnt need the
WS of a chaos lord, its fine as a clumsy brooding horror.
Third I absolutely loath the Mutalith, loath the rules loath the vortex on its back (more on that in a minute). here is zero chance I will build that option.
Fourth I love the tentacle head, love the underclaws, love it either with or without the tail. The figure when on a proper base is super awesome. I had seen the Giant Chaos Spawn and Great spined Chaos Beast rules back in the day, didnt remember them exacly but remembered they were both very large monsters, with no frills stat profiles relying on brute force over special rules. A custom chaod beast made from the best of the Slaughterbrute and Mutalith combined as a large chaos
thing, is all I need.
Some extra news:
The Mutalith back vortex. I hate this on a monsters back, but the vortex itself is awesome. If you cut away the plug by which it fits in the back of the monster, and if you take some of the extra tentacle like wisps that are on the sprue and glue the to the underside the vortex will stand up on its own. This is now my
Sphere of Annihilation, a warp vortex celestial phenomena for Battlefleet Gothic, a Vortex grenade gone off, Purple Sun of Xereus and Arniziphals Black Horror. It looks super cool already and I haven't painted end it purple ans black yet. And because it needs no base I can stand it on a clear small or large round template depending on the size of spell etc and see it rip across the battlefield.
Black is the new black. Apparently the super black, the new material that absorbs nearly all light and looks like a shapeless blackness , and makes any black garment it is placed on suddenly appear medium grey by comparison. This stuff is no longer mind bogglingly expensive and is now available in a paint form. Someone at my local
GW is going to buy a pot. It will cost him about £50 apparently, but rule of cool demands sacrifices.
I am asking him to help out by blackening two or my minis, offered to contribute cost etc to be fair. First the empty cowl from the Chaos Sorcerer Lord from the Chaos Manticore set, this cowl is a plug into which you can fit a mask or face, but I am going with neither, and pure shapeless black sounds perfect. Should have been s Nazgul, but I dont have one of those.
When I mentioned adding the super black paint to the central sphere of the vortex that was when conversation turned exciting. "Let's do it!" was the recommendation from just about anyone.
My only regret here is that I know any picture of the result will not do it justice, shapeless blackness doesn't translate well to .jpg
It likely wont happen until the end of the month, but if central England is sucked down a gravity well about end of May, apologies in advance.
