Hello everyone,

I haven't really played since 5th edition. In which I only played maybe like 10 games total. Never played fourth. Maybe played 1 game of 6th, zero 7th and a metric ton of 3rd edition.

So here is where I am at....

I am looking to get back into 40k with some friends. One will be playing Ork Speed Freaks. Another Genestealer Cult. However, I am stuck trying to figure out all these new rules, datasheets and such for building armies. In addition, I can't even try to decide what I want to play. I sold off majority of my collection and have a small bit left. Looking to maybe accommodate them into an army so it will cost me less but I have no desire to play Imperial Guard.

What I still own is as follows:
Roughly 20 Adeptus Arbites /w shotguns
13 Adeptus Arbites /w Shield/CCW
10 Adeptus arbites /w various special weapons
3 or 4 cyber dogs
1 FW Adeptus Arbite

4 Space Marine scouts

15 Stormtroopers /w Hot shot lasguns
3 Stormtroopers /w meltaguns
3 stormtroopers /w Plasmaguns
4 Stormtrooper Seargants
2 Stormtrooper Seagants /w plasma pistol

1 Valkrie
1 Chimera

1 Vindicare Assassin

20 Juan Diaz Daemonettes

1 Masque

1 Daemon Prince

1 Chaos Terminator Lord

Trying to decide what I play it's really difficult. I don't really want to play an army I already done in the past. Blood Angels, Necrons, Tau, Eldar...... What I been actually looking at is like an All biker/vehicle Marine army or Sisters of Battle or maybe some sort of Sisters/Inquisition hybrid?. But I keep seeing this like Castallens list/build and I have no clue what that even is.

The Skitarrii models look cool but they don't have an HQ slot which really throws me off. I feel like I missed a lot and could really use some help making some of it make sense.

I also like the Sisters of Silence models but I was told I can't play them in 40k only in 30k? I don't even know whats going on anymore. lol

Well thank you all for your time. If this even makes sense to you all.

Well White Scars, do well as all bikes as it is their thing

but with existing models you can field a guard army.. but otherwise use your arbites as scouts and make a scout army.. If your friends are kewl with that

Right at this point you have a Guard Army

Also Sisters of Silence and Custodes are now in 40k as well

I has no desire to play guard. Just happens to be what I didn't actually sell off at all.

For bikers I was going to do Vanilla or White Scars but if I did white scars I wouldn't be painting them that color.

You don't have to which is the beauty of Successor chapters

But yeah if you are really against guard.. sell all your guard models =D

and use your arbites as scouts until you can field a proper army

Could you refer me to what all books have rules for the Marine Bikers/White Scars? Things seem so spread out now its hard to tell. I am still trying to figure out where this Castellaz or whatever list people use for Sisters of Battle is at.

Codex: Spacemarines, has what you basically need..

Codex: Angels of Death has a couple of Formations that I believe are bike focused

Codex: Dark Angels - Another Spacemairne faction, that has potential bike focus

St Celestine is from the Gathering Storm pt1 .. The rest of the sisters, I am not sure tbh

Sisters of Battle are in the um.... Imperial Agents book. It's the one I have. It has rules for an Inquisition thingy too. That is why I was considering a Sisters of Battle/Inquisition list. Using the models I own I could get about 850points but I would still need 2 troops and an HQ for SoB

Armies I am considering:

Biker army. White Scars or Vanilla Marines.

Skitarii

SoB/Inquistion -------- using models I own I have roughly 850points for this. Would still need to get one HQ and two troupes.

Castellenz or whatever that is from the Gathering the Storm book apparently. Lets you mix stuff Imperium-wise I think? I don't know if that is correct.

In addition, what is like the standard points size people play so I know what to try and build for once I decide on the army I want I would pick up a book and write a list before I buy models.

Read up on what 8th edition will bring (sum up: free basic rules, cheaper brb with anual release, codex gone for free pdf downloads)
Furthermore collect what you like for now and indulge in the hobby aspect unless you really urge to play.
Getting the starter box might actually be for you with Dark Angels allowing for bike heavy lists and a buddy of yours might pick the chaos parts for good value. Consider any rulebooks a shortterm investment though, 8th is expected this (early) summer.

I agree starter sets are great value for money if you can say that whilst including a GW product, and even better if you have a friend that plays the other team to the one you want intaide ofnthe box, me and a friend bought 3 AOBR box sets back in 5th, the only down side to the starter kits is the lack of customisation the guys you get in there tend to be static and have no weapon variation what you see is what you get.

Yeah. I already bought the current Imperial guard or whatever they are called now codex and Imperial Agents one a few weeks ago. Even though I have ZERO desire to play guard. It's what I had models for so that's why I got it.

I would much rather play White Scars or Vanilla marines over Ravenwing personally. So trying to avoid that.

I know I should still be safe to buy bikers so I been checking ebay and such for decent deals to get a couple to work on till the new edition and books. I just don't like to buy models till I know what I am making for an army and have a list written for it.

And the 3rd edit.

So I been looking around but haven't really found anything and I don't want to drive an hour plus to go to my LGS just to browse through a codex. But whats like a general build for like White Scars/Vanilla Marines biker army.

Other then like Tanks, Flyers and Dreadnoughts I have zero intention of having like non biker units. So like no foot infantry or jump pack people. Even if in transports.

Apparently GW is giving out credit vouchers to those who've bought a rule book or codex in the last few weeks. I'd look into that if I were you!

your mind

You have a great collection imo.
I am sad that I sold all my old arbites.
In my case, I like to collect an army for either side.
In your case, chaos and imperials...
I would go Inquisition on the one hand and chaos on the other.
Buy the new 8th box set.
Go from there...

I actually started to gather a bunch of Marine bikers to play that. I am just waiting for the new edition to come out. I am really hoping Chaos can do an all biker army because I would really like to play that. If not White Scars or Vanilla Marines it is.
