So I have metal Terminators and was thinking of changing some of the Weapons load outs. However, it is tough to find metal Terminator bits online.

How well do the larger plastic bits work/look on the old 1st and 2nd edition Terminators?

The Cyclone Missile Launcher might work, but the limbs are all going to be a little large for the metal bodies to swap the other heavy weapons. I find that the size difference really prevents metal and plastic Terminators from mixing well.

Hmm, so should I wait for the bits that I want to show up on eBay? Or is there a quicker and less expensive solution?

What bits specifically do you need? GW recently released some of the smaller plastic terminators in one of their build+paint kits. Might be compatible...

Storm Bolters and Powerfists, or Thunder Hammers that I can just say "counts as Powerfists." Basically, most of my Terminators either have Flamers, Power Swords, or both, and I want to make more basic Terminators so I can field legal squads.

Edit: looked at the build and paint stuff. Looks like the size is right, but now I need to see if I can find just the arm bits of those. Might be tricky since they seem new and not quite distributed yet.

Out of curiosity, why not just buy the plastic terminators?

The new terminators are far more enjoyable to paint simply because they're cleaner and more defined, whereas the old metal ones had rounded edges and a lack of detail.

The old ones have some detail.

I'm just a stickler for antiques. Whenever I have collected stuff, my eye always gravitates towards older stuff because that stuff has history behind them.

Also the newer Terminator miniatures are very expensive, and I already have the older ones so I figure it would be cheaper to make those work rather than buying completely new.

EDIT: Also I found older Terminators for cheap on eBay (~$4-8 a piece compared to 10 a piece for the newer ones retail). Might be the cheapest solution in this case. I'll also eventually get Betrayal at Calth and Burning of Prospero boxes, allowing me to field up to 3 regular and 2 Assault squads if I don't end up running DA.

EDIT EDIT: Found a seller for the new smaller stuff selling for $15 for 5 so I'll do that. Also tempted on some old Deathwing, but I'll wait and see.
