That is the Forge World Quad-Mortar for the Horus Heresy 30K game.
https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-US/Space-Marine-Rapier-Quad-Mortar
It is a newer model than the Thunderfire Cannon, but it is older in the fluff as it was used during the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy. The Thunderfire Cannon is likely a descendant of it and the other tracked artillery pieces the Space Marine Legions used.
So, at the same time it is a newer AND older model!

Isn't that link a... recaster site? I don't think its allowed to link that kind of pages in this site.

Dakka does have White Knights and is also rather infamous for it's Black Knights. A new edition brings out the passionate and not all of them are good at expressing themselves in written form. There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

As BunkhouseBuster said.
Adding in my US$0.02- the Quad Mortars are also the most borken unit in 30K, combining all the strongest shooting elements (no LoS, ignore cover, high strength, low AP), being dirt cheap for what they can do, and in units of 1-3... BORKEN. Side note: I have no problem with 1-2 of them. It's when I see 6-9 of them with a Siege Breaker Consul and Phosphex in the army that makes me upset. I found this link with it's stats:
https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/resources/fw_site/fw_pdfs/Horus_Heresy/RapierQuadMortar40k.pdf
Could you play this unit still in 40k 7th ed? What are the chances you could in 8th?
I like how cheap the unit is. I'm only making a 1250 points army, so it shaves some points off from a TFC Automatically Appended Next Post: Galas wrote:Isn't that link a... recaster site? I don't think its allowed to link that kind of pages in this site.

That's an old version of the unit stats (see how it says Experimental Rules?). There are provisions for using them in 40K, but you have to purchase Imperial Armor Volume 2 I believe, and then there are all kinds of restrictions on fielding 30K weapons in 40K. Another thing to consider- 8th edition is coming out a lot sooner then many people think (I believe it's coming out in June). You might want to wait on building a new army until 8th edition drops. Some game groups for whatever reason still do not allow Forge World models or rules in 40K games.

yeah true. I'm wondering also if the FW rules won't apply to 8th ed. as it's going to list AP value and such. You'd basically have to make up rules for it in the new edition, no?

FW has come out with stopgap .pdfs before (all the Badab War stuff written for the 5e Space Marine book has .pdfs updating them to the 6e book), they're probably going to give us temporary/experimental rules for their stuff in 8e until Imperial Armour version 3 starts coming out.

It originally appeared in 2nd edition wargear book. It was perfectly legal for use back then. After that forgeworld brought it back.
