Subject: Tallyband of Nurgle question.

Dangerous Duet

Hi people. I had a question about the wording of the following rule (the part I am having difficulty with is in bold):
''(...) In each of your hero phase, each model (...) that is within 21'' of the Great Unclean One heals d3 wounds. You can instead return d3 slain models to each unit of Plaguebearers from this battalion if they are within 21'' of the Great Unclean one in your hero phase''.
Okay.
So let's make this question clear with a scenario. Let's say that I have a GUO, a unit of Plague Drones and a unit of Plaguebearers.
The two units are within 21'' of the GUO. The plague drones are wounded, and the unit of PB has lost 3 models.
Does this means that during my next hero phase I must chose between healing my plague drones and restoring models to my PB unit ?
Or does it mean I can do both and the word ''instead'' simply means that it works differently for multi-wounds unit and PB units ?
Thank you for your time.

It's the latter interpretation; since plaguebearers are 1w each they wouldn't benefit from the healing, and so got the alternate rule so they could benefit.
Fun fact: Nurglings can never benefit from this battalion despite being an option for it, because Nurglings heal all their wounds at the end of turn thanks to their own ability.

Is there any "official" clarification on this? I can certainly see how it could be read either way.

"walk to work instead of going by car"

Albiet not "official" clarification, I believe the with the definition of instead, this rule would be an either/or instance. You can heal d3 wounds on a model OR you can return d3 models to a plaguebearer unit. Which is basically the same thing since by returning d3 models you are essentially healing that unit d3 woulds. I hope this is helpful.

That's what I mean, the implication is that you either heal the wounds, or you return the models, but you can't do both at the same time. So I have a PB unit missing three models, and a plague drone missing three wounds, I can either heal the drone, or return the plaguebearers (but not both). I don't think this is the intention, but I can see how it could be read that way.

I would rephrase the problem bit as "...units of Plaguebearers return d3 slain models instead."
