With 8th editions hatchet job to drop pods via point cost my pod army will be shelved. I will be switching to Nids.

My roomate and I will be doing a joint army in the flavor of Nards Nids. Except only white and translucent. We plan to accomplish this with Resin.

So I need suggestions on a really great resin that I can buy. One that is Crystal clear. We plan to place tentacles inside the molds for the translucent nids. Then layers of translucent white paint. The general idea is to make them slimy and look like jelly fish. All teeth will be replaced with tentacles as best we can before we mold.

I also want to have some digesting captives inside the nids wraped and pierced with tentacles. Probably will use a zombie mini of some kind.. Any suggestions would be great.

Nards Nids on steriods if you will.

In conclusion. Really good clear resin. Translucent white paint. What to buy And how do I make them look slimy?

If you're not familiar with Nards Nids google it. Very much worth it.

Oh and Nard if you read this amazing work.

I use this stuff called "ardcoat" it was made by GW years ago, i think their new version of it is called clearcoat.

That instant mold stuff is clear, you can heat it up with hot water, I've heard of someone using glue sticks for a similar result.

Hot glue goes translucent when it sets, not clear.

I believe the 2 part epoxy resin used for fibreglass dries perfectly clear, when mixed right and allowed to dry properly.
Generates a lot of heat while curing, though, so your mould material would matter.

I used a no-name set I got off amazon searching 'fibre glass resin'

There are tonnes of products, just choose the cheapest option in your location and you should be fine.
What you need a tin of resin and a little tube/bottle of additive. They usually come as a pair. You add the appropriate amount of additive to the volume of resin you need for your project, then it begins to cure.

I'm no expert, I used the stuff once and didn't do a good job through trying to rush.

The heat depends on the volume of resin you use - more resin makes more heat. I used enough to fill about a coke can, and it didn't melt my warhammer model.

Sorry I can't help more - I've not had enough experience beyond the above.
