So I had a look at the wording of the index, and realized the commander can outright take 4 weapons if he wants to. He can take 4 fusion blasters and fire them all on a 2+. And in addition, he can deepstrike (or whatever it's called now) anywhere he wants outside of '9 of an enemy unit at the end of your movement phase.

IF I've understood this correctly, this means you could make an absolutely murdertastic commander that can slaughter just about any medium/light tank on turn 1. 4 fusion blasters, each one with a -4 rend and D6 wounds...

In theory, this sounds absolutely hilarious and I'm aching to try it. But I'm wondering if I've missed anything? Will the commander be overcosted or not? Will this be another one of those ideas that's fun in theory, but less practical in reality? I'll take any feedback on this.

Not sure why this thread was needed

Within the 1st page there is https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/0/730905.page

Which talks specifically about this

6+ = 6/36 | Reroll 1s = 7/36 | Reroll Misses = 11/36 ||||||| 5+ = 12/36 | Reroll 1s 14/36 | Reroll Misses = 20/36 ||||||| 4+ = 18/36 | Reroll 1s 21/36 | Reroll Misses = 27/36
3+ = 24/36 | Reroll 1s 28/36 | Reroll Misses = 32/36 ||||||| 2+ = 30/36 | Reroll 1s 35/36 ||||||| Highest of 2d6 = 4.47

If you do this your hq will be a sitting duck on the enemies side. A bodyguard unit will be hella expensive. Not worth it to kill a vehicle turn 1

Yes. Yes you can. Quad Fusion Commanders (as well as other builds) are amazing. The fact that they are BS 2+ means that the also benefit massively from the "terrible new waste of space Marker lights" These guys are able to drop in to within 9" of an enemy (Or closer with a homing beacon) and light up any and all targets. With 4, S8, BS 2+ (Rerolling 1's with only 1 Markerlight) 2 D6 (picking the highest damage) for 160 points. Yes please.

Although I agree that this thread is a bit superfluous. Perhaps just one T'au empire thread would be best.

Over 9"
Meaning...
No Melta Effect for you when you drop

Re-reading my post, perhaps I should have made it clearer, that you get x2 D6 picking the highest with the beacon.

QFCs are pretty good, but don't rely solely on them to be your anti-tank, especially at bigger games. Each one you use is one more unit taking the first turn from you

AI & BFG: / BMG: Mr. Freeze, Deathstroke / Battletech: SR, OWA / Fallout Factions: BoS / HGB: Caprice / Malifaux: Arcanists, Guild, Outcasts / MCP: Mutants / SAGA: Ordensstaat / SW Legion: CIS / WWX: Union

I saw the thread you guys linked, didn't really seem to be about the fusion commander so IDK why this thread would be superfluous.

Saw some really interesting pro/con discussions about the fusionmander vs the ghostkeel, though. A commander could deepstrike in and turn a tank (or monster, enemy character, or multi-wound heavy infantry) to molten paste in a single turn, but I guess the risk is that he becomes the focus of a whole lot of firepower? It still sounds amazing, though. Or should I just buy a ghostkeel?

The QFB are glass canons to be sure. The Ghost is good, although you really need to decide its role before within your force before committing IMO.

(Or just get several of each as I have done. )

Played a 1500 pts game vs space marine with commander fusion, or as I like to call him, commander G'of'uck'y'our'self. Was absolutely beautiful. Doing 2d6 wounds to a primaris captain felt magical.

(Went the safe route of 3 blasters and a shield generator. Still reliably murdered stuff.)

Just take the fourth weapon. Then drop him with a bunch of Crisis suits and drones, he'll survive to fire again.

Yeah, it's an amazing unit. Highly flexible and effective, very hard to kill, especially before it makes its points.
