If anyone doesn't know them, basically you can make your own miniature, pic their race (Human, Elf, Dwarf, Robot) their clothes and weapons a pose then they will 3D print the miniature and send you it.
Has anyone used their service? What are the quality of the miniatures like? And how to they scale up compared to other companies? I am very tempted to order one, would just like some feedback before I do, they are quite pricey. Here are a few I made up, great fun, they seem to have a lot of options to suit any game system, and apparently are gonna be increasing the clothing/ weapon options.
Here are a few steampunk guys i made
And a few fantasy ones,
Great Fun to play around with, would appreciate anyone who has bought one uploading a photo.
Cheers

My experience was painting a mini that a friend had ordered. It had that slightly gritty/bumpy/frosted texture you often see with 3D printed minis. The detail was fine. At arm’s length it looks OK, but my close up pics make it look horrible.
Overall if you were looking for a specific style of mini, I’d make sure you exhausted all the normal sources to see if someone makes what you want. Then look into reasonable kitbashes. Then HeroForge. It’s on the list of options, and a viable one. Just at the bottom IMHO.

I ordered two from them. Paid for the higher quality version.
One came out fine (it even had an articulated piece--the lantern swings).
The other had a gritty, frosted texture that completely ruins the model. I was unable to get Hero Forge to make it right.
I've heard from others who got similar results, but it isn't every time. It's a gamble. I personally won't risk my money on their product again.

My group got a few of these (7-8 total i think) for our DnD campaign. The high quality ones were expensive, but the detail was actually quite good. My only complaint is that polearms (spear, quarterstaff) were bent and a bit out of shape.
Overall we were satisfied. It's good if You're looking for something personal or very specific (like air genasi sailor wizard, or ancient paladin/warlock with a glaive)

I recently ordered from Hero Forge. Specifically, a miniature that I'll convert into a toy prototype/visual reference.
I'd say it's worth it - if it would save you time and work. Of course, if you can find models/bits to convert into your desired models, then that's better, as you can feel/examine them beforehand, and be guaranteed to avoid any texture problems.
But that process might well involve shipping costs if ordering online - which means Hero Forge might save a little if it would otherwise involve a lot of parts, like your sword-and-pistol guy.
I mostly went with Hero Forge because I needed an anthropomorphic animal sci-fi figure. If I had needed a regular human/elf, I would've gone elsewhere first.

I did the kickstarter and have bought a couple of the miniatures, in the various plastics they offer. I've found it worth the cost as the plastic is good detail and takes paint well.

I got my Hero Forge model in the mail today. I was surprised to see that they use Shapeways facilities, or are somehow related to them.
The model itself came out quite well. Thinner than I'm used to - even a little thinner than Infinity models, but part of this may be due to how small I made the figure.
The plastic is quite dark, which will make greenstuff application a tiny bit trickier. But it's not that big a deal, as one'd be priming over it anyways.
The material is decently stiff - not as stiff as Games Workshop plastic, but much harder than Reaper white vinyl.
But one of the more important things I found is that the base is VERY thin. Like, a quarter of the thickness of GW bases.

They tie into the Shapeways API, so shapeways does the actual printing. It's actually a pretty cool idea.
