I've cleaned a few models in Dettol, but there is still some sticky residue on them.
Would 99% isoproyl alcohol (isopropanol) remove this sticky goo, or should I buy another bottle of Dettol to rise the models off?

Methylated spirits may work. just soak to model for a bit and then rinse with warm soapy water.

Dettol is 90% (by volume) isopropanol anyway, so it should work.

I can't stand the smell of it, so I don't use it (dettol).

Excellent, thanks for the suggestions. My isopropanol arrived earlier, so I'll send the dudes for a swim tomorrow.
