Hey there DakkaDakka!

I am new here, formerly known from Warseer as 'Nocturn'.
After the "Revival" on Warseer though, there isn't a huge community anymore and it strikes my directly in my heart.
At long last I decided to be part of DakkaDakka, I hope I won't disappoint you content-wise.

Sadly my Username is already taken here, so I went with my other Alias 'Sepherato'.

Greetings, community.
I am Seph.

To start off with some interesting things, I have a major question to you out there.
My next, slightly huge project could depend on your input, answers and feedback.
It would be great, if you take some time to read and I would be much in your debt:

Here I go:

Massively inspired trough another plog here on dakkadakka (https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/446424.page) and another plog on Warseer (won't post the link here, just saying "rescuing Tau Models", both regarding "reworking" and "reusing" models and themes, i came up with the following idea:

Damn, I need to rebuild and repaint my whole, finished T'au-Army.
I think most of you know this point in the hobby aspect, where you say

  • a) I don't like the poses of my models anymore

  • b) same to the colors

  • c) I know I can do it better, knowing the latest done work

  • But having made this major mistake already in the past, I can only recommend everyone out there NOT to make this decission (ok...in most cases, though) but to instead create something new.
    Maybe start small.
But don't redo all of your finished stuff, at least when you aren't fast painter like me.
    You will regret it.

Nonetheless, my decision is to make a small force of T'au.
    I just love them.
    And I love Crisis Suits.

Checking my spare, not-yet-built "Start collecting"-Box of T'au, I've seen the impressive and improved quality of the Crisis Kit.
I am a huge fan of converting myself and now there are even more, even easier possibilities.

So I am now to the point where I say:

    a) Ok, do a DEFAULT T'au, nicely improved painted- and base-wise Army. Cool indeed.

or -an idea I had in mind for VERY long now-

    b) do AWESOME Stuff.
In fact that would be converting armies and mixing stuff.
In even more fact that would be doing a bit more savage, Kroot-influenced T'au Army.

    Like ...
-> 1 Overtaken/re-used weapons and tanks, like Kroot commanding a Devilfish, shooting out of the sides

-> 3 Remote controlled XV8 Battlesuits -by Kroot-, wielding of course the great T'au Tech, but only as long as they have spare parts, ammunition and things like that. If the weapon is damaged or empty, they need to replace it with maybe looted imperial weapons.
Maybe not as technical-seen great, but deadly nonetheless.

-> 10 Kroots Counting-as-Firewarriros, with their plasma weapons, improved/better armour, but not in the "we use our T'au buddies armour"-style, because that wouldn't fit in a physical way and even isn't savage as I imagine the Kroot

and to get it all together, of course even fluff-wise
-> 1 Kroot Counting-as-Ethereal, with >insert fluff< "increased intelligence through a lucky accident", knowing the elements, knowing the T'au Technology so the Kroot can use them, know how to overtake drones, weapons, suits, etc.

I have this built Devilfish, not yet painted and I will post it here, but apart from that:
Would you think b) would work if done with quality and effort?

Thank you for the read and your time!

    Regards
    Seph

As said in my former post, here are some of my already WIP models attached.
They aren't tidied up yet (glue) but you get the intention, I hope

This is around the maximum "looted look" I would go for.
Some added armour, plates where the armour is penetrated or damaged.
Some spikes (since spikes are always good and fit to the savage thematic of kroots, making sense on vehicles when tank shocking and to wield off attackers.
Kroot are partly "enhanced" due to the shaper and have some "fixed little problems"; like a missing limb. Or some.

For the shaper I went with some dark elves armour and a nice aporthecari glove.
It's the only one the Kroot have, so I hope he keeps it safe haha

And to judge my painting skill for yourself:

Would you think this kroot-style would work and I could pull it of?
    Thank you : - )

    Regards,
    Noc

    Decision has be made
    I will go with "b) AWESOME T'au, more savage, Kroot-influenced T'au Army."

    Speaking about the Kroot:
I think I will name them "The Fallen".
    Here is a PIP:

Missing some Edge Highlighting, Warpaint, Tidy Up and the Base.
I thought about a blue Edge Highlight for the skin ...?
I Like it so far. Camo will imo work great on bigger stuff.

    What do you think?
    Opinions appreciated
