For 30 years, the grim darkness of the far future has captivated gamers, painters, modellers and others around the world – and so this issue we celebrate 30 Years of Warhammer 40,000! We mark the occasion with a very special issue, presented in a deluxe cardboard sleeve and including a very special, exclusive free gift – a poster, marking Warhammer 40,000's 30th annviersary, with a special nod to its illustrious beginnings. Inside the magazine, we look back over the past 30 years, and just what a triumph Warhammer 40,000 has become in the meantime. The team pick out some of their favourite aspects of the behemoth that is Warhammer 40,000, we bring you a special anniversary battle report, we've got a Paint Splatter for the anniversary miniature also released this month and much, much more.

Be better if the people who vote also provide a comment -- it is a discussion board after all.

Ideally those who vote would be those who've read/bought the magazine, but we can't really enforce that so keep your internet poll broomstick of skepticalness ... ? ? ..... or whatever to hand when reviewing the results.

be extra handy if you could say which bits you really did/didn't like, what you'd like tweaked or added and so forth.

I might have to try to get a copy, if only for the cover art - not as gritty/cool as the original, but it's a cool nod.

You get a massive free poster of it which is cool.

What day of the month is WD released now? It used to be the last Saturday of the previous month (i.e. September's would have been released last Saturday so August 26th), at least in the UK. I guess that isn't the case now though. Does it come out on the first Saturday of the month - so this issue will be in newsagents/game stores on the first Saturday in September?

Normally the first Saturday of the month -- although it has been later for the odd issue to tie in with the GW release schedule.

New one -- above -- is out today.

Picked it up today, only managed a quick flick through on my lunch break, but it look like a decent issue - some cool-looking batreps in there for 40k, and I like the posters a lot. A token bit of LOTR/Hobbit stuff in there too, which is nice to see.

Looks to be worth picking up, I'd say - though I'll reserve my actual vote for when I've had a proper read through.
Can't say I'm a fan of Mortarion's new model - though that's not a problem with the WD, of course.

Next one out on a friday apparently!

Good issue overall, nice piece on the Rhino, plenty of eye candy. My favourite bit is the top five 40K mysteries, no.3 - what happened to the Squats? Don't ask, just don't ask...

Two new Hobbit scenarios. For that reason alone it gets a 7. Add in the pages of wanton nostalgia, and for me, that bumps it up to a solid 8!

Also, this is the first "rate WD" poll I have voted in for years and years and years! Were they started at the time of the "BUY THE GIANTZZZ!" WD? Seems like an age ago now. I'm liking the new WD on the whole. I've not resubscribed yet (my sub died in about 2007!) but with a teenage son who's into AoS and GW starting to put words back into WD again, I'm coming round!

Good issue overall, as the Simpsons guy above said it was nice to see some LOTR stuff in there.

My scoring definitely increased because Orks were in one of the double battle reports, although Dan Harden really is a hopeless Warboss!

To increase my score they needed some sort of background article, my favourite magazines to go back to are the ones that have articles about lesser known parts of the story such as the Blood Pact and the Beastmen.

The new White Dwarf and the new issue of WI kept me amused all of yesterday afternoon when it was pouring down and I still haven't got through both of them so it must have been a decent issue!

For those who haven't noticed, a Friday has been the official release day for the issue since the most recent mag reboot.

An okay if not amazing issue. Some nostalgia and a couple of battle reports. Good to see something other than a catalog page for Middle Earth. What happened to Blood Bowl? I thought it was the new hotness; coverage of that seems to have dropped off a cliff. Take note of that for your hopes and dreams for future Specialist Games...

Posters are alright. Paper they were printed on was kind of cheap, and let's face it, folded posters suck. Hard. I realize there is no other practical way to do it, but if it was going to be chintzy paper and folded, why bother.
