Below is a picture of a drop pod with Imperial Fists iconography that I picked up second hand. I'm trying to determine what the symbols mean, particularlty the smaller gold-colored one above the Sigismund emblem. It looks like a "2" superimposed over another number or letter. Thanks for your help.

A 2 would probably mean second company..

Guessing it's simply a fancy 2, as in "drop pod #2".

Though I would expect Roman numerals, it does look like it's a number. Maybe they were building The IF second company?

It's just a weird fancy script 2.

Yeah that's all it is. Could mean 2nd company, the dedicated transport of tactical squad #2 etc.

2nd Company. The line through the number is just the script. Typically squad numbers aren't given in big roundels like that but I'm not the person who built the thing.

These symbols are from the Forge World brass etch sets. I have the Imperial Fist one and the larger fist symbol is on there. The one above it is just a "2" in GW's "gothic" numbering font.

I'm not sure if IF use Roman numerals or not, but it's most likely supposed to mean Second Company.

I'm going with it is a rogue trader style joke. The IFs here are dropping a 'number two' on their enemies.

It's just a #2. It matches the script that comes in GW's decal sets.

Post-Heresy Imperial Fists typically use Roman numerals for everything, so it's a (codex approved) deviation from the norm, so it really could mean anything you want: squad, company or vehicle. (Insignium Astartes has four pages of variant shoulder pad markings used by the Ultramarines, some variants use regular numerals as company and some as squad)
