Since iOS 11 update, the Warhammer Visions App is not executable because it did not received an update from GW
to reach iOS 11 requirement. All former monthly digital white dwarf (2012-2014) and digital warhammer visions (2014
-2016) will not be accessible under iOS 11.

Couple hours ago Apple has also stopped signing iOS 10.3.3. So there is no way for an iOS 11 device to downgrade
iOS 10.3.3 and regain access to those purchased contents.

This week I received confirmation from GW customer service: “As we no longer produce Warhammer Visions, there
will not longer be any updates to the Warhammer Visions App and in fact we have not updated it since Warhammer
visions ceased production.”

In conclusion: iOS 11 update = unable to read all purchased digital white dwarf and warhammer visions anymore.

Sucks, but it's a really good example of how buying digital content doesn't result in real ownership. Generally, you're paying for a license to read the content on such and such a platform. You can lose access to your content at any moment for a million different reasons. GW has no real motivation to keep updating their software to be compatible with the latest and greatest iOS. Besides, didn't they give everyone the option of downloading their purchased content to PDF months ago? I seem to recall getting that notification and doing so.

The weekly White Dwarf App, which was discontinued almost the same time with Warhammer Visions App, did provide
a feature for customers to export its contents. And now customers can access its exported contents throught iBook. It
is safe to drop the weekly White Dwarf App.

However, Warhammer Visions App did not receive the same feature. All the digital version of White Dwarf and Warhammer
Visions sold through 2012 October and 2016 July, 46 issues, over $300 total, are now only accessible if you own a pre-iOS11
device.

I will suggest people to reconsider that the money they spent for the digital new monthly white dwarf may also provide time
limited ownership.

While this REALLY, REALLY sucks, I think it would be more accurate to place the blame at GW's feet, rather than Apple. It isn't really realistic for us to expect any software manufacturer to keep it's operating system compatible with third party apps that choose not to update, much less third-party apps that are no longer even supported by the app creator.

GW could have chosen to update the app, or at least provide some manner for subscribers to access their files (even if it was simply a one-time download window).

It still really sucks for you and other subscribers. I would contact GW and, at least, register your displeasure. It certainly seems like there should be a way to provide you with the digital content you already purchased.

This is a danger of any digital platform - software changes, or the failure of a company can wipe out your stuff in an instant.

To be fair, there was PLENTY of notice from GW that the old WD app was no longer going to be functional, and you were given months to download copies of the issues to keep. So it is hard to gen up a lot of sympathy here....GW gave both ample notice and opportunity to rectify the situation.

This is what I do to prevent this issue. It may help you in the future.

1. Make sure to have DropBox installed on your iPad, with the option for screenshots to save to DropBox enabled.
2. Purchase non-downloadable copy of something like an issue of White Dwarf.
3. Screenshot every page, in order. Screenshots appear in the DropBox Screenshots folder.
4. Save images down and make sure they're in alphabetical order.
5. Archive the images to either a ZIP or RAR file. Rename the file whatever.CBZ for ZIP or whatever.CBR for RAR.
6. Open in your CBR reader of choice. I can't remember which one I use on my iPad, but there are a bunch of free ones. On my PC, I use CDisplayEX.

Works great. You can do this with literally any images. I'll usually pull out the painting articles and add them to a single "GW_Painting_Articles.CBR" file. It makes finding things super easy down the road.

Doesn't help with recovering your lost data, but it might help preventing this from happening ever again.

Unfortunately even thought their customers downloaded back issues before iOS11, the Warhammer Visions App did not provide any method to export
the back issues to epub, mobi or pdf format. The only way to read those downloaded back issues is by executing the Warhammer Visions App, which
is now not functional on iOS 11.
