Just started my Dark Eldar project, and I'm testing the water regarding my colour scheme. Though these are still wip, and don't have any highlights (except for the cloak - yeah, I know, there's a special place in hobby hell for heretics who use made-to-order limited run models for testing paint schemes), you more or less get the gist of where I'm going with the colours,
The base for the armor in Rakarth flesh. Initially I planned to use pallid wytch flesh as the edge highlight, but I'm getting painter's jitters over it for like no reason.

I'm kind of concerned it might be a bit high-contrast. Is there something that I could use as a sort of gentle in-between, or should I put on my big boy kabalite armor and just get on with it?

Cheers, Poser McBogus

I think it looks fine as it is. If anything, another spot colour might be nice. I always encourage the use of turquoise/cyan.

Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

For table top they look perfect. If you do want to push them to the next level some edge highlights on the armor would probably look good and as Fifty said small turquoise or cyan accents (gems, osl/glow-y gun barrels, possibly the tubes/wires on the kaballite) would look good.

I don’t know GW colors but assuming the color in the photos isn’t too off a near white aplied sparingly as an edge highlight would work fine.

Interesting. I was thinking of adding maybe brass or copper for the casings of the splinter rifles, and perhaps dark (caliban) green for the drug vials.

Out of curiosity, why cyan? This is only my second army-wide custom colour scheme, and I'm keen to learn. Both so far have had very little in the way of very radical contrast, and been kind of deliberately muted and dark.

With these guys, I'm a little cautious about making them too detailed, as I want to add some battle damage (just sponging on some brown, etc).

Also, am I expected to try to drill out splinter rifle gun barrels? Because I don't want to.
