Hi!
I'm thinking of adding 3 mucolid spores to get a brigade for my nids.
Is the only way to get them from the tyrannocyte kit?
Can i make some out of green stuff, spore mines and tentacles and still bring them to tournaments? What are the rules regarding this?
Thank you!

The rules will depend on the tournament organizer, so you'll have to make contact with each one regarding any potential proxy. This one however, would probably be met with zero issues.
Provided you match dimensions and base size, it should be really easy to get along with other players, especially with such a static unit. If its a big ball with googly tentacles, it's not hard to understand its a Mucolid.
When they first came out and were a 15pt troop slot filling option, everyone had to have them and a lot of people used the FW mieotic spores with a taller base to match the height.
Still have to get a Tyrannocyte kit to field them as far as I know.

Spend a lot of money on ebay ut probabaly less than buying 3 tcytes. On the other hand having 3 sporocysts isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Are the sporecysts that good? are they a thing in the competitive scene? I have yet to try mine out.

I love the things. Hundred points gets you a big monster stuffed with heavy bolters that spews out spore mines, extends synapse, and blocks movement/LOS. People always get a rude awakening when they try to charge it with multiple units and eat all the overwatch too.
Only cons are how annoying they are to transport anywhere, but that’s half the tyranid range.

This. Toss a few sporocysts into a list and the spore mines it spews out can choke up the field pretty quickly. Shots wasted killing sporocysts are not spent killing better thing (typical tyranid tactic). Area denial. Heavy bolters. All good things. Like basically the entire tyranid codex, a list that is built to utilize them makes an ok unit into a great unit.
