Some classics coming back for a short(heh*) time!

None of them my cup of tea, anymore. Seeing the two Empire Heroes makes me sad we never got an updated Empire Knights kit though.

https://www.warhammer-community.com/2018/09/02/heroes-of-order-for-one-week-only

Next week, another wave of Made to Order returns a host of fan-favourite heroes of the Old World to life. If you’re a long-time Warhammer fan who remembers the first incarnations of these characters or a newcomer who’s fallen in love with the world-that-was through licensed games like Vermintide and Total War: Warhammer, this is your chance to own a little bit of history – or just grab some awesome models.

This wave, we’re looking at champions of justice and good – or, whatever passed for it in the grim and perilous Old World. For humans, you’ll be able to grab classic Bretonnian commanders in the Fay Enchantress and Louen Leoncoeur, or pick up two of the most magnificent moustaches to ever grace the worlds of Warhammer with Ludwig Schwarzhelm and Kurt Helborg.

Meanwhile, fans of Dwarfs and duardin will be pleased to see another chance to get their hands on High King Thorgrim Grudgebearer as well as legendary runesmith Thorek Ironbrow – plus the Anvil of Doom.

Finally, for the Seraphon (or as they were known back then, the Lizardmen) you’ll be able to grab two diminutive (and deadly) Skink champions – the deadly Chameleon Skink chief Oxyotl and the bloodthirsty Tenehuain, priest of the mysterious god Sotek…

Rules for these champions will be available for free next Friday, as part of the Heroes of the Old World PDF for Warhammer Legends. If you’ve been looking to give these classics another outing on the tabletop in narrative and open play, this is your chance, but hurry – once they become available to order on the 8th of September, you’ll only have a week to get yours.

*because of the Dwarves.

Was Thorgrim last in metal or Finecast?

Seeing Ludwig and Kurt on those gorgeous horses and the bedazzled barding makes me sad we never got an updated Empire Knights kit, and I’ve never played Empire.

It's nice to see these made to order releases coming out on a semi regular basis. Sadly nothing I'm after this time.
My main concern with them now is the lack of square bases to put them on.

it's the quiet ones you have to look out for. Their the ones that change the world, the loud ones just take the credit for it.

I am very happy the are continuing to do these releases. I am also very happy that none of this batch are for armies I really collect, because I am in the process of moving. Although that is the Damsel, right? That is easily one of the best, if not the best, female model they have ever made. Anyone know if it would actually be metal, like some of the Dark Elf stuff was?

The mounted heroes make me wish they'd do a knights focused human faction of AoS with their new sculpting methods and setup because it would look very very grand now!

That said nothing in this block is really for me, though I'm tempted by the fae on the horse, but she's not really Daughters of Khaine material.

As far as I know all the made to order stuff is metal but it is a good question particularly as far as Thorgrim is concerned as he was done in both metal and finecast. I have the finecast variant but if it's in metal I would be tempted to pick it up! Louen and a few others are tempting too...a nice release window this time. That Kurt Helborg model is one of the nicest sculpts GW put out for fantasy

As far as I recall the official answer from GW is that they are made in the last material they were made in since they are basically using the same original moulds. So if they were ever in finecast they will be finecast now.

Morathi's mould (winged pegasus) was found last time to be defective and had to be pulled from the last chance sale.

They are only using the original moulds not casting up new ones for these short production runs.

Very tempted to get a Thorgrim. That would be the last Dwarf character I really need as I have a converted anvil already.

Ah ok thanks for that. Makes sense I guess but in my case I'll give Thorgrim a miss then.

Didn't know that was the case with Morathi. Shame really. The presence of Grom the Paunch a few releases back truly surprised me but provides hope that there will be a few further releases of stuff that is a bit older

Whichever they were last cast in as they are reusing the same moulds that they were last produced from. It should be noted that the finecast from the made to order appear to have a higher degree of success in casting (a lower rate of failure).

I want Ludwig Schwarzhelm for a looong time... but NEVER EVER will I lose money on FineCast again. That was a total disaster. Bent mini's, bubbleholes, ... that kind of quality is sooo 1971!

I dont understand why they do this.
They cant be used in regular matched so what is their use outside of old fantasy?

If anything the old fantasy armys needs MORE aos support, not less.

Because people like the models.

Also, if you want more AOS support for old fantasy armies, Beasts of Chaos are getting some ASAP.

Plus many can be used in current armies as well; you might use them to denote a new leader or even just as an alternate model. Plus old-fantasy still has some fans playing as well.

I might get the King depending on price. The damsel is a bit of a bummer with the starving unicorn, but last chance is last chance...still kicking myself for not getting some Kasrkin.

Most of these figures can easily be used as generic characters.

Wow that griffon and rider are gorgeous! Give me that over the plastic bag stretched over an antenna any day! Proper good hand sculpt with no flat edges, because organic things should have flat edges like a CAD plastic often does. Must get.

This is gonna be a hard choice.

I am quite happy with my Grom the Paunch, I even got him some Fenris Wolves.
