Lets discuss. Try to keep spoilers to a minimum for at least a week to give people a chance to watch it all.

I think this might be the best netflix marvel season finally beating out JJ S1. The villains were great. The heroes struggles were great. It fully utilized it's whole 13 episodes without feeling formulaic.

Spoiler:
Bulls eyes throwing of everything and anything was done REALLY well including trick shots. That first fight between DD and Bullseye was the best fight they have had on netflix yet.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

Terrific season, and it used it's full 13 episode run effectively without ever dragging or going off the rails (only LC Season 2 and the Punisher have managed that).

Great action sequences, good resolution to a lot of arcs that were started in season one, a more more Foggy/Karen than in season's past, and a story that made Fisk truly frightening.

I await its imminent cancellation...

We'll find out soon enough eh.

Yup. Better than S1 IMO, a contender for best season of the Netflix Marvel shows overall.

Catholic Guilt Ninja was still firmly in evidence, but it helped that this time he actually had some real reasons to be sulky and morose. It also helped that he had the Nun around to poke his bubble of self-pity occasionally, and that so much of the run was dedicated to other characters(more Foggy is always good, Fisk was once again excellent, Poindexter's tale was riveting, and they even made me feel some sympathy for Karen beyond immediate responses to her being threatened or hurt).

And I still can't believe that fight sequence was all one single take with no cuts or edits. Lunacy. These guys are seriously the best stunt coordinators on TV, hands down.

Hands down my favourite Netflix Marvel series so far. For me, it's the first series not to have a mid season dip in quality. The acting was great, the fight choreography was on point, the villains were well rounded and the best thing - no more Electra!

Plus that one take... Easily one of the best scenes in any TV show. The only comparison I can give is to the one take towards the end of Children of Men

I haven't been watching this at all, ever. But going from the comments above, would it be OK to just dive in at S3? Or would I be missing huge amounts of character development/origin/background, etc.?

I'm in need of something to binge on ...

I would tell you to watch it all. People are in places for reasons. Its probably not 100% needed but it will help.

I really like how they do address some of the plot points raised in S1 i.e.
Spoiler:
Karen killing Wesley
and it playing a pretty important role in this season. Fantastic fighting choreography as usual, and I like how they built up Bullseye as a villain in this season rather than dropping him in unceremoniously as a hired goon. It says something when he came off as much more threatening slinging pencils and glass than centuries old ninja-killers from the Hand. The ending reminds me a bit of The Punisher, at least with regards with what happens to the two main villains being put into surgery, it almost makes me think they'll cross paths at some point, like a "Heroes beat me up anonymous" support group, lol.

Under the couch

Enjoyed it overall, although a little irritated that
Spoiler:
he spends the entire series out of costume again. That, for me, is one of the big misses for the Netflix Marvel gathering... Luke Cage, Jessica Jones and Iron Fist only had the barest (and for the first two, extremely tongue-in-cheek) nods towards costumes, and Daredevil has only managed to wear his for one series out of three.
.

And that probably didn't really need to be spoilered, but it's sort of an important plot point towards Matt's state of mind, I suppose...

2 episodes left for me so far .. it started slow for me but I'm enjoying it more now. I also agree about he costume thing but I think I see why they did that. I think my favorite character is Kingpin though, Vincent D'Onofrio does a great job.

Does one have to watch The Defenders to know whats happening at the start of this show? Didn't care for 3/4 of the characters in that show so never finished it.

The opening scene of dd s3 is a direct result of the end of defenders.

It helps piece some things together, but you can get by on context clues alone. There are some references to the Punisher as well. It is worth it to go watch the entire netflix universe in chronological order if you want to catch all the references. Otherwise, Daredevil stands well enough on its own.

It is directly tied to it, but frankly all you need to do is read up on what happens near the end and that's about it. No Hand magic juju or shenanigans (thankfully) to worry about here, so his confrontation with Elektra at the end of Defenders is really about it.

It's a bit like MCU Civil War vs comics Civil War - it takes the baseline concepts and some story elements and then adapts them to fit with the universe they've built.

So this story doesn't have Nuke in it (he died in JJ Season 2), and it certainly doesn't have Cap showing up at the end, and it substitutes some characters in places (Bullseye as the 'fake' Daredevil). But it still works really well.

It also treats Karen a bit better than the "tried to be an actress and failed so hard she ends up a heroin junkie doing porn" version in the comics.

Felt like this season needed to happen before season 2. The character development was top notch.

My only complaint is about Kingpin, his machinations were a little too much. I get it that he's a symbol for the corrupting influence of power and money, it's just hard to believe he could have pulled off what he did after the loss of a trusted lieutenant in previous seasons.

The fights were spectacular.

Very interesting! I on the other hand thought that his machinations were, for the most part, pretty obvious and heavy handed. Then again, my wife and I recently watched quite a bit of Blacklist, so the bar for turning the government into your private army while they 'detain' you is pretty high.

Spoiler:
The one exception being SAC Hattley. That lady was cold blooded, and clearly put in place before he started going after the team... the framing of Nadeem really shocked me, in the best ways.

The fights were awesome. I loved the contrast of Bullseye and Daredevil's talents.

Much, much better than season 2.

Sound advices:

1) if Fisk ask you for your jacket or your coat, always say you'd rather not and run away as fast as possible.

2) fighting Bullseye in a tool shop, a restorant or an office is a really bad idea.

3) Fighting Daredevil? A helmet might save your life.

4) Don't make deals with the devil, seriously, it nevers pays.

All in all, that third season was much better than the second (which wasn't all that bad).

Absolutely brilliant stuff, up there with the best of them.

The stunt work in DD has always been top notch, but I'll echo the comments above about their take on Bullseye; shifting the focus from 'he's real good at throwing' to 'anything is a lethal weapon in his hands' worked wonderfully and it was pleasantly understated at times. No 4-point ricochet shots or anything silly, just unnerring accuracy with anything he picked up. I also appreciate that in most of their bouts, it's clear that he's not as good a hand-to-hand fighter as Matt is, when DD gets close he really puts the hurt on him rather than it being a totally one-sided affair.

I do think the star of the show in this series was Agent Nadeem though. There's been a common theme through a lot of the Netflix stuff of how getting dragged into the world of heroes and villains can really screw over normal people, and he fulfils that role in a way that was consistently believable. As a supporting character, I found him far more compelling than most of the others across the Netflixverse.

Spoiler:

I do feel it all wrapped up a bit neatly in the end. Wilson Fisk is like Lex Luthor; he never stays in prison unless he wants to. And yes, they claim to know his game now but I bet we'll see him again if there is any form of continuation. I also have a lot of suspicious about Vanessa, I kind of get the feeling she could be even more of a monster than Fisk. Almost wonder if she's connected to someone like the Maggia family, who I believe were referenced for the first time this series.

I do feel the sting with Dex was unnecessary. If he shows up again, I don't see what they can do with this surgery to make him any more threatening as a villain; he's already a mental wreck with an unparalleled talent for killing, if they throw in some kind of superhuman enhancement or something it almost cheapens him, and if we don't get another series it's just a loose end. He was great, but I think his story should probably be done by now.

I'm amazed Karen survived it all, especially after they went to such great lengths in episode 10 to resemble her comic death (where she's killed in that church in front of Maggie by Bullseye to hurt Matt) but she certainly put in a better showing this series than previously. Foggy likewise was more well-rounded, though did come across as a bit naive in the last couple of episodes.

Fingers crossed we do see more of this, though the finale of S3 would almost be a satisfying conclusion if not. Then again, I'd love to see Fisk as an antagonist in a second series of The Defenders, it'd be an interesting reversal of the previous series, swapping the supernatural for the mundane but no-less-dangerous.

I would like to see Vanessa hire Typhoid Mary to cause some trouble. And then I would love to see the Typhoid or Bloody personality actually come out instead of just Walker.
