Hi all. I'm looking for some feedback on a 1500 pt Deathskulls list. I play fairly casual, but I'm looking to get into local tournaments.

++ Battalion Detachment +5CP (Orks) ++

Clan Kultur: Deathskulls

Extra Gubbins (1/3 CP): 1 Extra Shiny Gubbins (1 CP)

++ Total: [87 PL, 1500pts] ++

The plan is to have the 2 warbosses and the Warphead in trukks with the Nobz along with a unit of grotz in the bone breaker. For deployment the 3 trukks and bone breaker deploy within the 5++ of the Mork with the Deff Dread in the tellyporta. The overall idea is that the opponent needs to choose between the mork or the bone breaker as an initial focus for AT while everything advances. The grots follow behind to limit deepstriking, hide, and hold objectives.

Thoughts?

Wouldn't making this a brigade net you 2 more CP therefore making your Souped up shocka essensially free instead of 2 battalions.

@Skycapt44 I don't believe he can turn it into a brigade in 1500 pts format without building a completly different list since he miss too much heavy support / fast attack slots.

@MannyMcCoconut You may replace your BoneBreaker with a Deff Rolla/'Ard Case regular Battle Wagon.
D6 attacks on charge is not realy reliable for 20 pts.
If you plan to TellyPorta your dread maybe equip him with more melee weapons for 2 extra attacks since you won't have any time to fire with Blastas when in melee.
If you want some anti-vehicles weapons maybe rather go for some Koptas, Megatrakk Skrapjet or Shokkjump Dragsta, they are nice MSU with deathskulks kultur.

In your Nobz squads I would almost give up a Nob in each to try and get one Power Klaw and maybe even one Kombi Rokkit in each squad, to utilize deffskull rerolls.

You might also consider an 'Ard Case Battlewagon instead of Bonebreaka, the extra capacity gives you deployment options and costs fewer points. With those points you might consider a Kannon on the wagon so you can utilize Deffskull rerolls.

I am the kinda ork that takes his own washing machine apart, puts new bearings in it, then puts it back together, and it still works.

The two walkers seem out of place. They're not enough dakka on their own to really make a good firing battery, and even with the Vigilus buffs I don't think they'll give you appropriate ROI.
I would suggest swapping them out for two more Battlewagons with Deff Rollas and taking a Deffkilla Wartrike so you everything forward at top speed.

I like the Morkanaut for a few reasons. The first is the wide range on the 5++ in case I dont get first turn. For the trukks, the 5++ combined with the 6+++ ramshackle give them a 44% chance to reduce incoming damage to 1 or 0. The mork itself can actually put out some decent damage with the right combination of strats. Check out the (failed save) / damage table below.

Even using just kustom ammo the mork can put out some decent damage on average against high toughness/ save targets. Include wreckers and the damage jumps a fair amount.

The idea is that it advances with the more mobile elements providing some fire support, the 5++, melee (if it survives) while drawing a fair amount of fire.

As for the dread, I kept the guns on him because, depending on the situation, I may or may not opt to deep strike him. That and with Deffskulls, its cheap and decent shooting if needed. His main purpose, if not deep-striking, is to hold mid range objectives / support troops there.

I've also re-worked the list a bit based on feedback. Let me know what you think.

Looks cool but I'd make the WL trait switch to Brutal but Kunnin' to really make that Boss crack open enemies. Paired with Fists of Gork he becomes a one man wrecking crew. Might of right may sound better but the reroll to hit is better than extra attack and +1 damage does more than the already massive strength he already carries. Especially since you will likely try to double attack with him and then when he dies attack back again.

If you can take index units there are 2 options you can look at.

Bike for the boss
KMB's for the koptas

My thoughts on the re-roll to hit was that hes hitting on a 2+ and he already has the deathskull re-roll so I wasn't sure if it was needed. The +1 damage is awesome though, so I'll switch over to that.

Edit:

Good call on BBK vs MIR

When I first read about the deathskulls re-roll traits, I was completely psyched about KMBs. I'm a bit disappointed that they were removed from koptas and mini-meks in the codex. I'm trying to avoid using index units. I'd like to get into some tournament play and my understanding is that many of them are blocking the index.

Some do and some don't, I know ITC allows it but ETC doesn't. Since you're in the US I'd imagine most big events would be ITC sanctioned. All depends on your area. Most events I do in Canada and US are ITC.

Ya the hitting on 2+ is nice with the da killa claw but you never know, those pesky ones make an appearance and i do love the confidence of rerolling to hit and to wound. The extra damage is the real gravy as 4 damage is very nice vs Knights.

If you do find yourself going to mostly ITC get that boss on a Bike where he really shines. Cheap KMB coptas will give you the points to do so.

I do like a PK on one of my Nobs just to utilize the rerolls as well.

If you do start tournys you'll find most are around 2000pts so you could drop some grots and beef up some boyz squads when you do change to higher point levels. My deathskulls boyz squads usually go 28 boys with slugga/choppa, Nob with PK choppa and a rokkit boy for the reroll. I also do a unit of shoota boyz to jump first turn and clear the chaff.

Just to comment on the shooty Deff Dredd - I thought it would be a silly novelty unit when I ran two in my 1k list (I used 3 KMBs/dredd and ran bad moonz, but same idea). T1 they lurched forward and dropped 14 wounds onto some horrifying Tyrannid monster at 24" range, completely destroying it. It was spectacular. D6 damage really feels amazing, even with our accuracy. Then the enemy tried to charge them, and I still had a klaw and T7 in melee, so they were a total pain to take down. I can only imagine they do even better as Deffskullz, but I would recommend taking 2 or 3 for target saturation.

I'm not a huge fan of the Morkanaut. Even though it has is T8 with a bunch of wounds and a 5++ save it makes for a giant bullseye. I have never played with a Morkanaut where is wasn't taken out turn 1 when my opponent realized it was my only source of invuln saves and it didn't have the character rule to prevent it from being shot at. And his weapon load out isn't really that great.
For the same price you can get two Big meks KFFs and two Big Mel's w Shokk Attack Guns and have a wider and more reliable invuln save area and have a good chance of doing more damage. Or for a few more points go with Warbosses, or Warbosses on Warbikes, instead of the Shokk Attack Guns.

The big mek with SAG is amazing if deathskulls and with the vigil relic.

I'd drop the dread and replace it with some mek gunz and the rokkits on koptas.

I think you have too many vehicles for the infantry you brought. You may take out one trukk (for some mek gunz) and replace the BW with a bonebreaka.
