I can't comment because I'm just starting out again and I'm still working out a list of paints I want. I've added the red and green gemstone paints to my list, definitely want to try those out.

I'm a big fan of Caliban green as it's the base for my Eldar. It's got good coverage from the bottle or an airbrush. Same goes for Zandri Dust, it serves as a good base for bone, sand, and much more!

I typically use a base, layer, wash, and then highlight for everything I paint so its hard to pick just one paint color. I like using stormhost silver as a highlight for almost all metal colors.

Kantor Blue applies nicely over black undercoat. Better than any other base paint I regularly use.

Think I'll try that out for my Deathwatch.

Cheers.

It's my go to for black. Work it into your black, then once you're almost at pure DR, add a little white for your highest contrast and edges.

Under the couch

Shining Gold and Emerald Green, from the '90s range.

Midnight Blue, which was discontinued in the early 2000's.

Ice Blue, which was discontinued sometime after that.

Devlan Mud, which was discontinued and reissued with a slightly different formula with the range name change...

This is largely why I buy other brands these days... Although I do still like some of the Citadel base colours. Iyanden Darksun (or whatever stupid thing it's called now) is still my go-to for a yellow base.

Leadbelcher is good.

I like the GW metallics and washes, but otherwise I mostly use Vajello paints.

Whilst not strictly speaking a "paint", i am in love with the "agrelland earth/badland" texture paint.
I love the effect it produces for such minimal effort, i love leaving it a formless blob at the foot of my soldiers and coming back for it to have created a cracked wasteland.
Every time i realise i have to use it i get unreasonably excited in anticipation, seems like magic to my inner ten year old. Makes creating a desert and wasteland (or martian if you get the red one) a breeze.

This was my goto as well, hasn't it been discontinued? I have been drinking my way through Eshin Grey for the last year.

Agree with Insaniak on those blues, I have been hoarding a bottle of Ice since they got rid of it. I really liked the coloured metallic they did as well.

It may have went direct only for a little while a few years ago but it was never discontinued.

Ah, cheers mate. It disappeared from my FLGS's shelves and I never thought to have a hunt on GWs site (mostly because of the price!). Will have to see if they will get some in for me.

It's a toss up between Mephiston Red and Sotek Green. Both lush and delicious. But I guess I'll have to go with Mephiston Red as my favourite just because red is my favourite colour in general.

Excellent taste. I'd throw in the classic Boltgun metal, Badab Black and Mechrite Red personally. Always useful, flexible and forgiving paints - important to me because I'm bad at painting

Interesting reads. Mephiston Red is another I'll need for my bolters. For some reason this time around I'm more excited by the idea of painting my models than actually playing with them on the board. I think when my models have a decent amount of paint on them, I'm going to display them dotted about in my various plant pots.

I might have to go with Agrax Earthshade. It's so easy to create good shading with it. Literally just liquid talent.
