Most of the Heresy-specific vehicles (Sicaran, Whirlwind Scorpius, etc.) are rare in the 41st Milennium specifically because they were new and still being introduced during the Heresy.

As far as I can tell the only vehicles that were definitely around during the Unification Wars were Rhinos, Predators, Castaferrum Dreadnaughts, and Contemptor Dreadnaughts.

Arkhan Land's developments (Land Raider and anything with anti-grav (Land Speeders, jetbikes, all the Custodes vehicles)) were after contact with Mars was restored, you might be able to use some of the airplanes but they'd need to be converted with wheels and the only ones that are proportioned to fly without anti-grav are the Lightning and Thunderbolt.

As far as I can tell Knights were originally designed to be easily built to defend colony worlds during the original human diaspora; the knowledge to build them almost certainly existed on Terra, but I don't know how widespread they would have been.

And if you want regular armies as well as Thunder Warriors/Astartes/Custodians you're probably going to want to run them with Survivors of the Dark Age Militia so you can have Rhinos.

The Spartan/Cerberus/Typhon chassis is a derivative of the Land Raider, it's newer.

I'm not sure on dreadnoughts, certainly custode ones came before space marines ones so may have existed in unity times.

I don't think thunder warriors had the interfaces astartes do though so not sure they can be hooked up.

But I'm sure I've read about walkers that were piloted by humans so maybe with some conversion work you could do it that way.

I wonder what Rhinos looked like. The two variants we have are Mars- and Deimos-pattern, but it’s safe to assume there was something similar being built on Terra. But I never pictured the Thunder Warriors being a truly mechanized force. Open-topped vehicles, maybe, like Gorgons or Stormlords (though not at that points value).

Termites should be fair game.

Outside of transports, I think artillery tanks are a safe bet. If buying from FW, maybe look at their older Imperial Guard models from the Siege of Vraks era, like the Minotaur and Bombard and just run them as something different in the Legiones Astartes list.

No, they work a lot like Dreadclaws - they each take up a Fast Attack slot and go into Reserves. They aren’t assault vehicles, though.

I like what you have in mind for Rhinos. If you wanted to upsize them, maybe start with Repulsors? I wouldn’t, personally, especially if you’re opening them up a little.

Dreadnoughts weren't exclusive to Astartes, techno barbarians used them as well, so no reason why thunder warriors couldn't. They'd probably look a bit more ramshackle though.

Sounds like an interesting project, look forward to seeing the conversions.

Just had a thought about Rhinos and Predators - consider using Aurochs and Carnodons as older variants.

The Blanche art is brass/gold the only official painted mini is purple/blue.
So I compromised and did the metal undercoat and edge-work in brass and the armor in purple
I think it fits as the design pull from the heresy era has always been early-middle empire Rome, where purple was the color of the emperor and his house.

Malcador Tanks were renamed to honor The Sigillite and were actually ancient having been in service since the Age of Strife. So it's variants and the Minotaur tank are both highly suited.
