Did someone get stung, and thinks this is where they came from?

Local farmers are going to have a bad summer.

People's capacity to miss the obvious never fails to amuse me.

The bumblebee is abut to go extinct in Canada. *tumbleweed*

But obviously an attack on a commercial bee crop is a "tragedy" that needs to be disseminated widely.

Commercial bees are one of the biggest contributing factors to bees still being around. But they’re still a precious commodity as there aren’t as many as you think.

The honey bee is by far the most important bee on the planet. Unfortunately with the hyper aggressive africanized (killer) honey bee taking over basically all the wild bee population in central and SE north america, people tend to get a bit overzealous when they get stung. If Canada and north America both lose their major pollinating insects there will be a huge food crisis around the world.

Not enough to make it a widespread extinction event, but enough to cause some big problems

I read an article on bee populations a few months back, and it's not as big of a deal as you'd think.

The decrease in bee population over the last few decades is mostly due to fewer people being bee keepers. It used to a fashionable hobby, but fell off in popularity.
