Posted about this a couple times, and have yet to get a response, so here I am, starting a thread!

Hi all!

I'm really tempted to pick up Necromunda, and have recently really become attached to an idea for an Orlock conversion.
It hinges, however, on being able to get some correctly sized feudal Japanese themed bits. Ideally without having to butcher too many other models, though I won't rule it out (though I'd rather keep the costs lower).

I'm mostly looking for a few Katanas, the odd spear, and few samurai-style helmets and shoulder guards, those nifty lil rectangular banners and a few straw hats, though anything else that adds flavor is always a bonus!

To make matters even more complicated, I live out in Japan right now. If anyone has any expertise, I'd love to hear it, I know there are some great shops out in Osaka, Tokyo, but here in rural Ishikawa, they seem a bit more few and far between... I have a local hobby shop, but it's mostly trains and gundam.

Anyway! Thanks for looking, and super thanks in advance for anyone with actual help to offer!

Have you tried Warlord games Test of Honour minis range?

No idea of how they scale though as I have neither any of those bits nor Newcrumunda!

I have indeed checked out Test of Honour! While their rank-and-file plastics/infantry are a bit too small, they do have some interesting metal characters, though I'm a bit daunted, as I've got pretty limited experience working with metals, and am not sure how I'd hack them up.
Those other links are interesting, though! I like the look of some of them, though they seem kinda space marine scaled (though tbf I think newcromunda is guilty of more than a little scale creep).
Thanks very much!

Decent saw blade and patience is key for working with metals though things like head swaps can be achieved with clippers if you don't mind destroying the head there already.
Speaking of metal, had another thought;

Oooh, haven't seen these before! I like the attention to historical accuracy, too! I wonder if they have a Lord Maeda...

Cheers for the reccommendation, ingtaer! You continue to be ザ ベスト!

I'm a little late to the party, it seems, but if you're looking for weapons and jingasa, I can probably help you out. I have a ton of samurai models and bitz, and don't mind sending some stuff your way. PM me if you're interested.

Cheers! Do you know how well they match up to necromunda minis at all?

These are replacements for space marine and imperial guard minis so necromunda should fit

Might pick a couple up then, I've had a gander at their social media, and it seems...

...like maybe they'll fit. The heads at least. Shoulder pads might be tricky, but I'll give it a shot, I guess...

There is a pic I found of a Delaque with Puppets war Ashigaru head that looks alright, cant find any way to link the result though.

I saw a very nice range of models at the Spiel Expo last year, made by Titan-Forge:
http://titan-forge.com/92-dragon-empire

Spoiler:

PS: There are also loads of Katanas on Thingiverse. If you can find someone around you with a resin-based 3D printer, you can have a ton using a neglible amount of resin.

That has the added benefit of being scalable, so you can adjust the bits to the scale of your base models.

Ehh, Ingtaer, I trust you enough not to need photographic evidence! Sounds like a good bet!

Oh cool!, they look really nice, any clue as to how they compare to GW minis, sizewise? It looks like those bases are a familiar size... 25mm, perchance?

Done some poking about, anyone have any strong opinions on https://www.warandpeacegames.com.au/WarBanner_Samurai_s/4045.htm
I've also found http://www.scotiagrendel.com/Products/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=217_218_60_73
Anyone ever bought any of theses? I'm tempted to pick some up as characters...

Before I fall asleep, also, how awful would it be to try scavenging some stuff from Malifaux's minis? They seem to have some vaguely sci-fi Japanese themed minis?
