I have been picking up the Frostgrave sets over the last while, lovely kits with lots of cool options on them. I primarily want to use them for Dungeons and Dragons, but I always have an eye to making things dual use.

With that in mind, I would like to build the kits with loadouts that make sense for a Frostgrave warband. I was thinking something like this:
6 with Hand Weapons
6 with Great Weapons
4 with Bows
4 with Crossbows

But I would be open to assembling them in any number of other combinations based on advice. Does the above ratio look reasonable for the various factions? Afaik all factions are treated pretty equally in game so it is not like Gnolls want a substantially different loadout to the standard soldiers or Cultists.
If it makes a difference I have the Gnolls, Snakemen, Cultists, Barbarians, Male and Female Soldiers and Crew kits.

It all depends on what you want your warband - and importantly - what can get max benefit from your wizard.

A chronomancer wizard will easily give 7" movement soldiers 9" movement with fleet feet, making them move a crazy 13.5" a turn if needed. Likewise, you can make knights move as fast as thieves with it. Another combo is using elemental hammer on weapons with bonus damage, as they stack, nothing like a +7 damage Crossbow!

Firstly, look at what style of wizard you want to play, and work from that!

Dr. MIlls' advice is sound: build what your wizard needs. For instance, my first wizard had Glow, so I took more archers with a Ranger to "lead" them. Wizard lights up a priority target, then as the group action, he has three of the ranged specialists fire on the victim.

You may want the option to build Trackers and Treasure Hunters, which require quarterstaves. You can get those from http://northstarfigures.com/prod.php?prod=8279. Alternately, there are toothpicks shaved down.

Thanks for the advice guys. Not sure what wizards I want to go for yet, but I will have a think...
