Which chapter tactics is more helpful for a competitive gun line.
Being able to shoot and ignore cover saves with extra hits on a D6 or
Being able to fall back without being tarpited by melee and still being able to shoot, all be it at -1 including vehicles?

I got a blood angels army but with the new space marine codex (and wanting to be able to field centurions) gun line now looks a lot better, especially bolter weapons now,
Many thanks for your feedback

Untill Imperial Fists get their suplement it's hard to say, currently I would say Ultramarines as they have their suplement but the roumers are Imperial Fists are stronger than them, but untill we see the suplement it's all speculation and roumer.

It’s true that we can’t yet decide which chapter to paint marines as, till we have the rules. Salamanders and Imperial Fists night both be good options. Black templars probably won’t be the best gunline, I guess.

Right now though it looks like iron hands would beat ultramarines for a vehicle-based gunline. They’re just so tough that they will tend to outlast anyone else in a shoot out. A gunline that doesn’t auto-lose to another gunline if you go second is a huge advantage.

The ultramarine chapter tactic of falling back and shooting is a lot less important now that repulsor executioners are a thing. Basically the best unit (probably) to build a gunline around can fly, so it doesn’t need the ultramarine CT. many of the other units that really work well as iron hands fly in fact - things like suppressors and the planes themselves.

But ultimately the best option might be to make a home brew chapter right now. We’re in this really frustrating period where a crucial set of our rules aren’t yet available. I’ve got s Crimson Fist army and it’s very annoying to have lost all the relics and strays I had. I expect I’ll get them back again eventually, probably with a fancy new Primaris Pedro, but till then I feel like I can’t build the army any more because I don’t know what units will be best. And I’ve got a load of grey plastic, including three executioners, that I’m very tempted to paint up as iron hands.
