I know they are not the optimal choice, I have a speeder and was wondering what the best weapon choices were.

What chapter, and what else does you list have?

Some CT’s let you move and fire, so things like the assault cannon can be pretty nice. The HF doesn’t take the -1 for moving so can fit into others.

Just sitting back with a TML/HB might not be the best use of points, but adds some backfield dakka.

Lots of options, depending on the situation.

They're more or less bottom tier units at the moment unfortunately. Just far too fragile for their points, and they pay for mobility which if they use make their weapons much less effective.

As pointed out above, some chapter which allow them to move and shoot without penalty mitigate the second. But that isn't enough to make them good.

The best speeders in the game are Sammael and Talonmasters, as they have character protection and a lot of weaponry. However they're only in Dark Angels who are generally in a pretty bad spot right now. Hopefully they get an overhaul soon to bring them in line with core marines.

They are certainly viable as Iron hands as practically everything is viable as Ironhands.

Take a single 3 man unit with HB and TML and utilize the 4++ ability for the whole unit. Use them to clear flank and bully backfield while having the ability to drop 6 ap-3 krak missles on something is pretty damn potent. If need be you can also put out a bunch of lighter fire with 6d6 str 4 ap-1.

You can start them in your Ironstone by just getting a small amount of a single speeder in the aura. Truth be told it is probably one of your best options as ironhands for speed.

If we fail to anticipate the unforeseen or expect the unexpected in a universe of infinite possibilities, we may find ourselves at the mercy of anyone or anything that cannot be programmed, categorized or easily referenced.

I mean sure, but it's all relative. They're still one of the worse ways you can build Iron Hands, it just happens that Iron Hands are generally amazing so you can get away with it a bit more.
