What's the most effective way to deal with armies with powerful psykers if you don't have psykers of your own?

Hitting hard and fast? Massive firepower? Using CP?

Sounds like Khorne to me. Bunch of pissed off red and gold guys rushing the enemy, you get to use the Letter-Bomb (Green Day would be proud), and if you take a Brass Scorpion from FW, you have a nasty model immune to all psychic shenanigans. Let loose the dogs of chewing faces off!

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

A good part of the psy powers only hit the nearest model.

This means that you have the following solution:

1) Bring a culexus and start laughing maniacally.
2) Put something in front that soaks the wounds. All factions have something good for it. It can be either a cheap infantry, or an SM vehicle (with 5++ save from mortal wounds).

Chaff works great for mortal wounds, it's the reason I've used a 24 man storm guardian squad from the webway sometimes.
However a lot of the best psychic powers, like doom and jinx for example, require either big screens or deny the witch, so are almost impossible for some armies.

Chaos has marauders from the r&h index.
They are good enough for bullying 90% of psykers.
And are cheap enough.

Luckily I can use the Soulwarden Warlord Trait - which effectively gives me deny the witch.

Chaos, Nids and a few other factions have absolutely no snipers. And I think it's kind of a cop out to say "just soup this forgeworld index option without a model".

And, until recently IoM had to soup in aswell in many cases.
So you got no point?

Also "omfg no official model" is also a cheap cop out for an argument.
Especially if we consider editions prior.
And in this case IG snipers exist, put spikes on it, there done.

Whilst there are quite alot of factions with no snipers, Nids have access to some very good ones from the Genestealer Cults.

The best bet for Chaos is their access to lots of psychic powers that can target a model of their choice in range instead of the closest.

Being able to soup into one is not the same thing as having them.

In the IoM i think that the only ones without snipers were Space Baubau, but now they have them too. Even knights can "snipe".

The only ones left are bananas and sisters. If i remember correctly though, bananas can snipe with some relic/warlord trait.

Orks have no snipers. The only way we can snipe is a warlord trait, the only gun worth doing it with has a 120" range and the range on opportunist is 18", so not much use.

Grot snipers would be sweet. I hope we get them next 'dex!

While the likes of Orks and Nids have no snipers, at least they have psykers of their own to deny opposing psykers.

I play Eldar but I've come up with games where my powers go uncontested and it's pretty brutal for someone to not be able to deny powers during the game.

on the forum. Obviously

Well, I play necrons, so here's how I deal with psykers :

- Snipe them when you can

- Screen with expendable units. With Necrons that means scarabs and warriors

- Try to rush the psyker

- Take whatever anti-psy abilities you have and hope for the best

- Focus down the psyker's screen to open him up for attack

- Just ignore it and focus on objectives / killing the rest of his army

- Pray to the dice gods for a lot of miscasts.

We wish it worked that way. We just get the built-in disadvantage of not being able to buff it with friendly powers. Enemies can target it all day long, they just suffer perils on the roll of any double for powers that inflict mortal wounds on the scorp. FLUFFY RULES ARE SO FUN!!!!1

It's also hillarious in the context that the MoP does the same.
For way cheaper
