Morning all,

We have a local meeting engagement tournament coming up in January so i'm starting to get some ideas together for a list. None of us have played a meeting engagement so should be a good laugh. The rules make a LoN list a little interesting as we can't take our usual blobs of Skellies, so i've come up with this:

Spearhead 410 Pts
Vampire lord on Nightmare with Vile Transference
5 Dire Wolves
Morghast Harbingers with Halberds.

Main Body 410pts
Necro - General - Fading Vigour - Ossific Diadem - Master of Death
20 Grave Guard with Great Wight Blades

Rear Guard - 160pts
20 Skeletons - Spears

Spearhead come on and charge the enemy with the wolves breaking off to grab objectives. Vile Transference should help keep the Morghasts topped up in case i'm against ranged attackers (not many in our meta). Main Body can be nasty with the necro's aura now 12" for the 6+ saves (not sure on the artefact tho...) Also once the rearguard comes on they can also benefit from the necro.

Not sure if the wolves would be better in the rearguard and the skellie blob on the spearhead to start getting bodies on the board?

As above little unsure on what artifacts and traits would be best on the necro, but i was going for a buff general to keep the GG and Skellies up.

Would love some C&C from you guys.

Of course the temptation to run Nagash, a 10 blob of skellies and 5 wolves is tempting......

Put dire wolves in the rear guard as well; skeletons are unlikely to get to the battle fast enough to make much of a contribution. Also, the main benefit of skeleton blobs is exploiting the anti-balance where they are worth the most per model at 40-man while also being the cheapest per model at 40-man. In meeting engagements I would never take skeletons; grave guard will serve you better in combat and dire wolves are better for filling battleline.

Road to Renown! It's like classic Path to Glory, but repaired, remastered, expanded! https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/778170.page

I chose an avatar I feel best represents the quality of my post history.

I try to view Warhammer as more of a toolbox with examples than fully complete games.

Thanks for the advice again Ninth. I hear your comments on the Skeleton's however i only have access to 20 GG and 10 Wolves, so dropping the Skeletons leaves me with 110pts. Not enough for another hero, and no other valid models to use, other than a squad of Harridans from my NH. (I am being lazy as i'm in work so using battlescribe rather than look at my battletome.

I do have chainrasps which i thought you could use in LoN but the option doesn't appear to be there?

Happy to help! Chainrasps work, harridans are not in LoN however.

Check the very first entry in the Battletome: Legions of Nagash Errata.

Thanks for the advice peeps.

So I've dropped the skellies and take 20 Chainrasps, however didn't realise that the Morghast's have gone up 10 points as I was going to use the 20 spare points to throw in a Suffocating Gravetide.

So i'm now left with 990 points.

Is it better to buff the vamp by making them my general? Or keep my general as the Necro who can hide better and pass wounds to the Grave Guard?
