Subject: Finally cracking into Gangs of Commorragh - loadouts for Hellions and Reavers (also more general DE)

So while I'm home, I've decided to try and crack through the backlog here for the holidays.
I'm starting with my old Chinese copy of Gangs of Commorragh - and was wondering what people thought about loadouts for both.
ATM, I'm considering running the helions barebones in a 10 man squad, with their heliarch, as a bit of a bullet sponge, and then giving the reivers a blaster in each of the 3-man squads, but equal parts running them as anti-armor with assaulty tendencies.
As for the rest of the army, I'm going for an Archon with Incubi, 2 10-man squads of Kabalites* and a 10-man squad of wytches, all riding in raiders.
*using just splinter rifles and 1 squad has a dark lance (the other is unassembled, though I was thinking of building 2 guys with blasters - what say you?)
This is really a casual army, that I intend to expand on to suit my needs once it reaches the tabletop, but if anyone has any suggestions for the current set up, I'd love to hear!
Cheers!

IMO, you want the Hellions barebones in min squads if you're running anything but Cursed Blade, and max squad if you're running Cursed Blade.
CB runs everything max squad. 1 casualty from morale FTW!
Reavers want to be Barebones with Grav Talon on 1 of every 3 if you're running Red Grief, and min squad with blaster works best with the tank hunting custom cult trait.
Kabalites IMO want 1 shredder per 5 and they want to be 5-man squads. You can do blasters, but I think it splits their target priority too much and I prefer to have dedicated anti-tank squads who don't also want to be 12" from infantry.
Wyches should either be 10-man with Net-Fist-Fist (especially with Cursed Blade) or 5-man with nothin' but net.
Archon with incubi is fine in a raider.
You need a Succubus to lead your Cult units, and probably you want either a second archon or Drazar to make your Kabal into a Battalion.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"
"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"
"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"
"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!" |

Interesting! Thanks for your reply!
Grav talons sound like a good shout, will add those on - any recommendations for which mini in the squad to put them on?
I can easily do shredders, what do I want to be using them on? Do you think my one dark lance is an okay shout? He's already half-painted lol...
If I do 5-man squads of Kabalites, is it still viable to put them in raiders? (kinda got a nautical theme I want to stick to)
If you absolutely had to run 10-man, how would ya do it? When I started out this project at the start of 8th, I got a lot of people saying pure splinter rifles, but I imagine that's changed.
Also, I'm still Index-only. Do you run consistent Cabals and Cults, or do ya mix and match? Thanks very much, your tips - especially for expanding my army - seem very solid!
