Hey,

As my hobby blog is getting longer and longer, it's hard to find the pictures of the finished models. Additionally, my blog does not focus on any particular project.
So I decided to put up a thread for each of my armies to display the completed models. This way it will be easier to separate the different armies to a nice collection.
I will not start all the threads at once: I'll create a new one for each army whenever I start working with them again.

The progress from this army and all the others can be seen on my general hobby thread: https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/471404.page

The first one will be my Orks: Waaagh! Targamoh. A name invented by a friend of mine some 10 years ago. The name is a modification from my last name.

Orks were the army that got me into 40k. Their unique look and conversion possibilities caught the interest of my young self ~15 years ago.
I bought the Assault on the Black Reach box set and split it with a friend. From there on out, I slowly started gathering more and more of them.
For years, they were left in poor storage to gather dust. Only to be played every 6 months or so.

Fast forwarding to this day, I have been working with them again for a little over a year.
My goal is to fix and repaint some of my older models and to finally build all the conversions I thought about doing ages ago.

I'll start by posting some of the stuff I have finished during the last year over a few starting posts to get this thing going on and to split the writing to a few nights.
From there on after, I'll start adding new stuff whenever I finish something worth showing. All the quickly painted tabletop stuff will remain on my hobby blog though, like boyz and gretchin etc.

Without further ado, let's begin:

The first model I built for the Orks was a looted Dreadnought.
A friend of mine was selling some of his old models, so I decided to grab the opportunity to build something Orky for the first time in years.
With this model, I took part in the Unofficial Dakka Painting contest for the first time. For my surprise, I managed to snatch the third place.

Building the Dread was actually really fun, so I decided to start working on a second conversion.
I always wanted a Kustom Force Field Mek on a Bike, but never in the past did I have the inspiration to build one. So that was the logical next step.

As a base, I used the old Ork Wartrakk. If I remember correctly, that was the first vehicle I ever bought.
In it's original form, the model did not see the tabletop even once. After I built this guy, it has been a regular pick on my lists.

I think this is enough for now. I have a few more models I'd like to show, but it's getting late and I have to go to work tomorrow.
I'm not sure if it's typical to write much on these showcase threads, so If it's not appropriate, this thread can be moved.

Thank you for looking and cya for now!

Time to add some more Ork creations!

These are still some of the models I've done over the past year.

To lead my Speed Freeks army, I decided to get the new Deffkilla Wartrike model. I did not do any conversions to it, as this fellow looked cool as it is and fit the theme well enough.

As a second HQ, I wanted to convert a Warboss on a bike.
I used one of the old biker models as a base for this one, with some added pieces from a newer bike kit and a Deff Dread kit.
The whole building process can be read from here.

And then to a more recent stuff. These bikers were painted to a tabletop standard, but they fit the theme well so I decided to post them too.

Catch you next time!

The latest addition to my Speed Freeks army is a Looted Wagon.
I used an old mk1 Rhino as a base for this conversion, which I acquired some 10-12 years ago.
It has seen a couple of iterations, but I finally decided to give it a new life. For now it will be used as an Ork Trukk on the tabletop.
Finished building this a ~month ago.

This fellow got me the second place in the vehicle category of the Fang 2020 painting contest.

I'm not surprised that you got third prize with the looted dreadnought, great model. And good idea with the army threads, looking forward to the other ones in the future!

Thank you very much guys!

Viterbi:Thanks! It sure was fun converting the dread. Hopefully I can get a bit more organized with these threads. It might take a while until I get back at working with my Eldar and Krieg, but I'm getting there!

Just finished painting a converted Trukk.
I had the idea of swapping the rear tires on this trukk to a set of tracks from a Battlewagon and vice versa.
The problem was, that I could not settle just gluing the tracks in place: I wanted to build the suspension and drivetrain for them.
I also had to make the crew compartment a bit longer in order to properly fit the tracks.
After a lot of sawing, gluing, a few spare trukk bits, some plasticard and an old brush cover later the tracks were finally in place.

Thanks guys!

The second vehicle of my new batch completed: Battlewagon.

This battlewagon is one of my old models that has been given a new paintjob and some new modifications.
The gunner standing on the platform is one of the older conversions done ~10 years ago.
What's new are the tires originally from the Trukk in my last post.

Finished painting the converted Megatrakk Scrapjet.

This model has some slight conversion work done to it.
Firstly, the wings have been cut off to make it look a bit more like a car.
The spoiler is made from a piece from the Trukk kit and the rear tires are stolen from a Shokkjump Dragsta.

That is really terrific. The curves make it look like one of those 1930s race cars.

Thank you Gordy2000, bubber and Ouze!

I've been 'refurbishing' some of my older half painted models lately.
These previously had some color on them, but I was never happy with them. So I decided to add some weathering, better details and all just generally enhance them.

Did this for one Dakkajet and two Battlewagons:

looking great but my only crit would be the rust. If you look at real world examples you'll see that the lighter orange (which is 'new' rust) collects in the grooves - it's where rain collects. Also, fresh scratches would appear on top of this. So in the final pic above, there's be a lot of fresh wear & tear on the edges. You currently mostly as orange / new rust, whereas in reality, these would show the bear metal underneath.
I have a section on my gallery of photos I took of construction vehicles for people to look at for reference. Please feel free to take a gander.
Overall they do look great though.

Thanks bubber!
Also thank you for the tips. Checked the images in your gallery, and it makes sense.
I used orange on the wholly rusted pieces, as there is usually hints of orange / red in rusty surfaces (as per the rusty cars I've seen, sadly don't have any pictures right now). I may have used the orange too extensively though.
You also tend to get a bit sloppy after three battlewagons in a row
But I agree that some metal should be showing from underneath for sure. Live and learn.

Over the course of a few weeks, I've finally finished the last converted vehicle I built a few months ago.
The base of the model is the new Shokkjump Dragsta, which have been modified using bits from the Mek Shop (the engine), trukk kit (wheels), megatrakk scrapjet (the rear suspension) and plasticard.
What inspired this project was the off road RC racing cars and the some of the baja racing cars.

This was a really fun project to build and paint.

With that one finished, I've completed my short term goal of finishing a playable speedfreek army (and a little bit more than that).
Group shots soon(ish) to follow.

Thanks!

I took the time to snap a few group shots out of the whole speedfreek force. Small part of it has been painted years ago, but most over the last year and a half.

As a bonus, I took a group shot showing all the painted Orks I currently have. Some of the boyz are one of my first 40k models, painted almost 15 years ago.

That's 4500-5000 points of orks, depending on the wargear.

Thanks for looking!

Thank you very much!

The latest addition to this force is a Weirdboy, that I painted rather quickly.
The smoke on the top uses same elements from my Eldar vehicle scheme.

Thank you very much Horla! I'm glad these work as a source of inspiration!

Finally finished painting my Stompa last month. I sort of forgot to update this thread as well, but better late than never.

I got this guy as a Christmas present over a decade ago. I built the hull and the arms, but after that it was left sitting and gathering dust.
Year after year I neglected it, even though "I had to have it".

Decided to finally bring it to life.
Painting the Stompa was a really fun project! I played around with different weathering techniques and with liquid mask to produce some chipping effects.

Been a while since I updated this thread.

Lately I've been working on expanding the speedy side of my Ork army.
Here's the last two additions. You can read more about the build process from my hobby thread here.
