I've been thinking about this unit for some time now. I think it's one of the coolest models in the custodes range. The problem is just that it not really that good. It is a dedicated melee unit, but is not even that stellar in melee.
I think it does not need much changes to push it into playable territory, the main problem is its main weapon I think and that is the one thing I would change:
Galatus Warblade now:
S: user; Ap: -3; D: 3; everytime the user fights he gets +D3 attaks
I'd change it to have two profiles of which you have to select one every time you fight:
Galatus Warblade (piercing)
S: +3; Ap: -4; D: 3
Galatus Warblade (cleaving)
S: user; Ap: -2; D:1; every time the user fights he gets +D3 attacks. If this stance is used when the bearer fights, every attack made by this model counts as 2 attacks.
These changes would make him a proper dedicated melee unit. He can hit hard at S10 with his piercing stance against vehicles and monsters, but can also be usefull against hordes with his cleaving stance because of the extra attacks.
Im interested to hear your thoughts on this. It's really a shame that such a cool model rarely ever gets used.

How many attacks base is the Galatus? Because I feel like doubling it and adding d3*2 might be a bit much.

4 attacks base, so 14 at best. Might be too much....maybe just double the base attacks with the cleaving profile. 8 attacks is still nice to clear chaff.

Yeah. Any other changes you think are needed?

Well I'd like to give his cleaving attack - 3AP but I think it might be too strong.... Not sure.
Other than that I think my proposed changes would solve at least some of the issues. The galatus is already quite tough in melee with T7 a 4+ invuln and -1 to hit due to his shield, he just lacks some punch at the moment I think.
I'd love to see him with a 3+ invuln, but that would make him too hard to shift I think

I might suggest bumping both the Galatus and the Achillus to 12W (in line with the Marine Relic Contemptor) instead of bumping up the Inv; it's a minor tweak but it isn't going to feel as irritating as the 3++.

I can get behind that idea. I mean the space marine dreads having more wounds than the golden bananaboys is actual heresy
