I’m sure this has been asked before but couldn’t find anything via the search function.

Currently I use the Citadel Crusade cases and I’m pretty happy with them, particularly for storing and transporting infantry models and I’ve managed to fit my vehicles in them well enough, but they don’t seem ideal for it - particularly the larger vehicles. Soon I’ll have a magnetised Questoris class Knight, a few Moirax/Armigers and a few Skorpius Disintegrators/Duneriders that I’ll need to store and transport. I travel a lot with my models so the case must be sturdy, and ideally at least somewhat resistant to rain.

Has anyone got a case that they would recommend for models like these? I’d rather not build myself a case with magnetic holders or anything like that, something that’s instantly useable would be ideal. Any help is much appreciated.

I've taken to building my own layers for my Battlefoam bag for Knights. The cost of buying one seems insane when I've got years of scraps from pluck-foam trays from a number of manufacturers, cardboard for structure, and a hot glue gun.

GW's cases have never been suited for vehicles. I recommend Battle Foam. I guarantee they will have something to fit your needs.

I have several of their IK foam trays and they're fantastic.

Put the IK tray in one of their Stacker Boxes and you still have several inches left for another tray for other vehicles.

It's so dependent on vehicles. Thankfully most of what I transport is Rhino-chassis, which are pretty indestructible. I can basically just throw them in a box for local travel. Thank god I'm not transporting Raiders around.

I can’t speak for your specific models, but I’m a big fan of KR Multicase. Solid stuff, good system, reasonably priced.

Be happy you don't play Chaos then, spikes can double the size of Rhinos and break easily

Magnetic solution is easy to build and makes transporting any shape of vehicle sure and safe.

I have used KR for nearly all of my 40k stuff, mostly to transport the vehicles.

Thanks all. I’m having a look through the Battle Foam and KR Multicase website now. Certainly a bit on the expensive side, I can see why people might recommend to make ones own

I am transporting Raiders, it's why I ended up hating the GW cases.

From what I've seen Battlefoam make the best cases but cost half as much again over KR, who offer pretty good cases to start with.

For the record I buy plastic container for 7e each and metal sheet for 20e that gives sheets for 12 box(or 6 double layered). One sheet fits 6 vehicles plus some spare infantry. For infantry I get 60 32mm base or(iirc) 104 25mm base or anything in between. Rhino's I can fit 2 layers(bottom and then another up hanging upside down). With my sisters exorcists are so tall my current box doesn't fit 2 layers so I go for vehicles at bottom and infantry layer to top.

It was bit of a work to get the sheets cut I'll give you that but 62e for 6 boxes with 2 layers is hard to beat with premade boxes (oh and bit more for double side tape I use. Tried epoxy glue but that actually turned out LESS of grip than tape)

Flipside is though the containers I have are transparent...Guess who kind of draws attention walking with these Especially older women are asking me what I'm carrying. Why old women? Not single man has yet asked. Women? I'm standing in traffic lights and notice movement and old grandma is kneeling around trying to take a look and when she notices I notices asks what I'm carrying Weird...

Heh. I have Chaos too, although I don't play them often. When I do I cart Defilers around and those are awkward AF.

Thanks very much again everyone, very helpful. I think I’ve organised what I’ll need from KR, Battle Foam and Tabletop Tyrant and just need to decide between them. TT is marginally cheaper than KR which is considerably cheaper than BF, anyone with experience with more than one type of these cases who could say if the extra money for BF is really worth it over KR?
