UPDATE 2024/09/24 GW or their contractors for IP stuff have reported my links to LinkTree, and they banned my account there. Files will be unavailable from me for the near future.
UPDATE 2024/10/14 For whatever reason, LinkTree un-banned me and reinstated all links without further explanation. I'll take it until I have an alternative site. Enjoy. https://linktr.ee/bfg.remastered
Hello everyone,
I got into BFG in December as a lot of people in my group picked it up again and 3D printing made it accessible without spending hundreds of money on Ebay. The rules are still available all over the web, but I found it hard to get into, as the PDF Games Workshop uploaded in 2004 was already a revised version of their rulebook, but the 2010 Errata/FAQ was written with the original rulebook in mind. So a lot of rules were already changed and the Errata was referencing an older version.
To learn the game, and to have a physical up-to-date copy, I spent a lot of hours creating a Remastered Edition, with all the changes incorporated. I know there were other projects like this before, but as far as I know they all addded houserules sooner or later or just aren't fit for printing.
As I like to share my work with the community, I present to you my BFG Remastered Edition. It incldues all the fluff about the Gothic war, the full and updated rules, scenarios, campaign system and the two campaigns from the Armada book (Armageddon and 13th Black Crusade). It doesn't include any fleet lists or ship profiles, as these will feature in the Fleets book (WIP below)

Yes, I'm planning on making a second volume with the fleet lists and ship profiles.
But as stated above, it would have added another 150-200 pages and taken a lot more hours of work.
There are also so many useful ship profile cards floating around, that personally, I find fare more useful than flipping through page after page.
So I thought the best solution was to split it into two volume, rules and fleet lists.
Great project! I'll give it a read, this seems like a nice and practical package given I too had a friend interested in getting into BFG at some point this year.
Very quickly after scanning - I thought their was a rule brought in that allowed escorts that were braced to have a chance of surviving critical hits on a 4+ (as normal for being braced). Can't find it - were those rule changes included in the book?

I'm positive I haven't seen this rule in the rulebook or the Compendium. Maybe it was for a specific fleet? If you can find it, let me know!

This language in the FAQ?
BRACE FOR IMPACT: Brace For Impact special orders can be undertaken ANY time a ship faces taking damage before the actual to-hit result is rolled, including when ramming or being rammed or against damage from asteroid fields. For example, you do not have to make the leadership check to brace until you know a ship has successfully passed its test to ram, but it must be made before any damage rolls are made. In the same manner, one does not have to brace for damage against traversing asteroid fields until after one actually fails the leadership test to traverse the field but before any rolls to inflict damage are made. When facing damage from an exploding vessel, one may wait until the 3D6cm measurement for blast radius is made but before any hits are rolled. It may now also be used to protect against critical damage from any kind of H&R attack. See p.11 for more on ramming, p.13 for more on

Okay... seems like I missed it after all. It is included though (reading the same things over and over really scrambles your brain), at the end of the Hit-and-Run paragraph. But maybe I should add it to the order as well.
Thanks for spotting it.
I always love to see BFG support, it is still one of the best games GW has ever made. i fortunately still have my original books as well as the 2010 FAQ (along with my thousand sons and necron fleets..talk about polar opposites..i mostly break out the necrons to punish dirty eldar players )

Thank you so much. Just getting into BFG (I know right!) and this book update is making it easier. This and the resources on Yaktribe and I’m all set!
Some of the way they write rules is so needlessly complex for what are actually fairly simple concepts. Aiiiieee.

Well,
thank you so much for this massive work!
I stubled upon this topic looking for some people still playing tabletop BFG and I find your remastered rulebook really useful and well done!

Is it possible to get a link to the print site you used? I ask because most of the ones I'm looking at don't do mm measurements and I'd love an updated hard back copy of this ruleset
