I'm going to buy a new heavy weapons squad to support my melee units and I thought I would try mortars but I'm against necron that have a tank of some kind and a works that have a truck and burna bomma what should I kit this squad out with?
PS I'm a new at this.

Unfortunately, everything is going to change in a week with the new edition. Pretty much any advice you can get will be guesswork, as a lot of the points and rules are changing. If you can wait a few weeks, people will be able to give much better advice.

The best thing to do for now is to work on your basic units that you know you will definitely need to take. No use everyone saying that mortars are awesome then next week they triple in points and kinda suck.
