Oh gods, that's a horrible idea. Well done for volunteering to paint them, though!

Considering that there is actually a lot of cultural heritage behind plaid it would not be inconceivable to have a chapter which considers such a pattern part of its identity.

Road to Renown! It's like classic Path to Glory, but repaired, remastered, expanded! https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/778170.page

I chose an avatar I feel best represents the quality of my post history.

I try to view Warhammer as more of a toolbox with examples than fully complete games.

Plaid is heretical! By order of the Inquisition, I do decree exterminatus upon thine chapter planet! Style is for Slaanesh.

Let it be known that DENIM is the only true clothing of the Imperium!

Would now be a bad time to mention that my hair-metal-themed Noise Marine wears denim power armour greaves? Your move, loyalist scum

How about "The Emperor's Accountants"?

A chapter dedicated to balancing the books of imperial order and ruthlessly "Auditing" those whose accounts may not be proper.

They could dress in grey and their symbol could be a pair of think black framed glasses, a pen and a calculator.

The chapter master could br the master of balance/ Their librarians could be High Actuaries.

Basic troops could be call accountants. Their elites could be called auditors.

Their chapter trait could be called "Anal Retentive". Due to their obsession with the most minute bit of minutia they can call for an audit of enemy to hit and wound rolls, forcing them to reroll.if the call for audit roll succeeds.

"But the universe is a big place, and whatever happens, you will not be missed..."

"We're on a mission from the Emperor."

Pursued by a cadre of offended inquisitors, enraged Tau watanabes, Ork BBQ Bikers and a scorned Sister of Battle, the twin chapter masters seek to save their chapter from Primarisification as they undertake their own crusade in a mission given to them by the Emperor himself.

This sounds very much like an Imperial version of Spoilpox Scriveners. HERESY, I say! A real Adeptus trusts in the Emperor's will to balance the books according to his plan. Said plan may or may not be mathematically accurate.

Accountants?
Like the Imperial order of the Finma?

Or short IOFINO.
Imperial order of financial oversight?

Their head most obviously is called Head accountant of the IMperium.

With secondary local Head accountants.

Your basic brother is called the enforcer.

Your basic devastor: Evition notice?

GW:"Space marines got too many options to balance, therefore we decided to legends HH units."
Players: "why?!? Now we finally got decent plastic kits and you cut them?"
Chaos marines players: "Since when are Daemonengines 30k models and why do i have NO droppods now?"
GW" MONEY.... erm i meant TOO MANY OPTIONS (to resell your army to you again by disalowing former units)! Do you want specific tyranid fighiting Primaris? Even a new sabotage lieutnant!"
Chaos players: Guess i stop playing or go to HH.
